Any info on the 2010 Schedule?

Good Day All,

Topper here, from Durango Colorado. We have an S2 7.9 we are looking to campaign next year in an area with a more active racing scene than Southwestern Colorado.

Does anyone have info on the schedule for 2010 in Galveston Bay?

We are members of the San Jaun Yacht Club, do we need to join GBCA to enter your GB races?

Are overnight slips available during weekend races?

Thanks for your help and we look forward to some great competition.

The 2010 Galveston Bay racing schedule is being worked on/discussed/revised/rediscussed as we speak.
The PROs of the clubs in the area will get together later this month and work out finer details.
That should happen in the next few weeks.
Official schedule is announced at the end of November, just about when you're sick of the all the turkey and inlaws.

We start our sailboat racing very early here!

The 2010 GBCA Icicle Series is every Saturday in January. It's fixed mark, about 12 miles. Pursuit style. Free.
30-50 boats, depending on weather.  You can race spin, nonspin or shorthanded class.
GBCA Membership not required, only if you want to score points in the 5 race series (top 5 finishers in each class)
NOR will be out in a month or so.  Of course, party after each race at the GBCA Clubhouse

We highly recommend getting a Galveston Bay PHRF certificate if you plan on racing the 7.9 in the area at all in 2010.
See http://www.phrfgb.com/  It's minimal cost, $25? good all year. It's well worth it.  In fact, all the local races require it to register.
Just think of it as your passport to all the racing fun.

For windward/leeward we have the two day GBCA Frostbite Regatta, in February.
March will probably have a regatta every weekend.
April the Wednesday Night Races start...

Of course, GBCA membership is the best bargain going in the area!
Your membership helps offset our rum and racing habits.  
Great people, fun parties, and quality racing is what it's all about.

There are one or two other S2 7.9s active here.  
Several rock stars locally are prior owners/have alot of experience with 7.9s . I'm sure they would be happy to share their knowledge.
One of the rum races this past summer we had three 7.9s come out to play.  They were in the points!

If you look at the 2009 schedule on this website you can get pretty close to the 2010 version.  There will be some differences and some new cool races but outside of that we will likely race pretty much like we did this year.

GBCA is the best value on the bay.
