I'm signed up!! C'mon Ladies! Let's show these guys what it looks like to sign up for a regatta in a timely manner!!
This is women at the helm. You can bring men (if you want) and costumes are, as always, encouraged.
Calling all Skipper-ette's.....for those of you ladies that haven't registered yet for the upcoming GBCA Women's Regatta, now's the time. No need to wait until next week. The weather will be hot, with light to moderate winds. The food back at the club will be delicious and the drinks will be cold, all served by the great men of GBCA. Who's going to have their name on the perpetual seahorses? And equally important - who's going to win the party??? ;D
Wow, this is going to be easy to get trophies....we're looking at one, maybe two....C'MON gals??? Seriously would you like to see an etched vase with flowers, a usual plaque kind-of trophy, a pink cockpit sized cooler with a metal plaque on it, placeholders for the day and stitched tote bags delivered later? Your call. Sign up. You know you wanna race. 8)
I'll just keep popping out little notes just to keep this at the top of the discussion page. Weather looks to be GREAT this weekend. Boats are available. Crew spots are filling fast. A great party is in the final planning stages. Now all we need are more entries. Ladies?
I've decided to take the week off and head out of town for a few days to mentally prepare myself to beat up on Corrie and Beverly this weekend. Looking forward to Saturday and thank you Bee for letting me borrow Stinger!!!
Your welcome. Now just don't beat up on Stinger.
Ok, I was a bit nasty. Just go out and do your best Jody.
1) Be Safe
2) Have Fun
3) Do Well

Also good....
1. Shut up
2. Sheet In
3. Hike Out
WooHoo! It's almost the weekend! Can't wait to see all the gals out there this weekend, with smiles as wide as our transoms as we dial up for the starts. Thanks in advance for everyone that's loaning boats, crewing, giving moral support, working on RC, and preparing for the after-race-party. We appreciate it!
And Jody....it's on! :D
Diana Strickler - are you sure you're not taking Leading Edge (the 109?) Because if you do --- we will have ANOTHER one design class!!!!

Tried that one already - no dice. They are going with the red boat.
We have 6 classes formed:
- J/24
- J/80
- J/105
- PHRF Spinnaker
- PHRF Non-Spinnaker
- Club Handicap
3 boats each, going 1 deep on trophies.
Andrea needs to get 2 more Vipers to form that class, or else she is up against :o 2 J/109's and a J/27.
Apparently she likes the stick.
Pat Gibson? Jeff Jones? Farley? Robby? Drake? Where are all the Vipers?

That woul be
PETE Seeger in 1955. Good song any way you look at it.
I would have guessed that the Vipers would have been at the NAs in Marblehead, but there aren't any TX boats in the event:-( There was a Viper clinic this past weekend at HYC - rumored to have fiberglass carnage...
I met Pete's brother many years ago and actually met Pete through him. Very nice guys. One a singer (you figure out which one) the other a PHD engineer.
BTW was there enough wind to race today or did you guys use a lot of diesel?
I think maybe it was the latter.

Wish we could have gotten a couple of more races but it was fun.
Happy Birthday Liz!

One race in light air northerly conditions before the breeze went right and proceeded to die. Tried a second race, but time limit expired.
Congratulations to Marie Mather and her crew of French Connection, winning the Women's Regatta overall award.
Flowers for all the ladies; wines, sandiwiches, salads and of course rum for all at the apres race party.
Thanks to all the volunteers and participants.

Thanks for the great pictures and for the bottle of champagne!! It was opened before we got to marker #2.

Nice job RC. Some difficult conditions with the light (then nonexistant) wind. You did what you could!
Double thanks to the Lacy Bros and Allan on the markset boat!

I just put Bob in there to see who was old enough to figure it out!
I can't for the life of me remember what Pete's brothers name was but he looked enough like Pete for me to do a double take when I first met him. If I remember correctly he was an EE.
This was when I was in Project Cyclops at Moffet Field in 1971. Forty-one years ago is to long to remember much of anything. Especially since I suffer from CRS disease.
Dang, ain't google grand.
Pete's older brother was Charles and he was a "Radio Astronomer." That fits in perfectly.
Well I think this says it all for the second race!
Bummer!
I love how "full" that black and yellow kite is. Beautiful
You guys are great Scott and John
I'm just glad Infinity was close enough to the bunch to make it into the picture. And in case you were wondering....the right side didn't pay on that upwind leg ::) It was a ton of fun anyway. Thanks to all the GBCA volunteers that made it once again a special day for the chicks. Great turnout, despite the less than perfect sailing conditions!
