14 boats signed up and the wind supposed to blow 20!!  Can't wait!!

In weather like that - common sense dictates we stay home.  In  lieu of common sense, I have foul weather gear.

Hey, that quote sounds familiar!!  ;D  Really wish we could have entered our boat, but darn that common sense - it would have been fun to have debuted our newly repainted Soling and I really, really wanted to test my driving skills again (Look out for the legally blind chick at the helm!). Really can't wait to have our own bigger PHRF boat for bay racing! We did catch a ride on Danelaw so we'll still be out there at least.

Chris, if we had a boat that was not 40+ years old and is held together with duct tape and bailing wire (not to mention that we literally just finished the new paint job), it would not be a problem - we just can't risk it on the bay in winds like they are predicting no matter WHO is driving.  :'(

:'( :'( :'( Unless the wind forecast drops off a bit, we won't be entering the Soling - I am majorly depressed.  :'( :'( :'(

We don't mean to wait but we just need to be sure the new paint job on the Soling is ready to go back in the water! :D

LOL at Bee - I was actually thinking the other day (yeah, I know, I've been warned about doing that!) that we need a "Beer Handicapping System" where every boat has to start the race with a predetermined "beer to crew-member ratio" and any leftover beer would result in a "one second per mile per beer" penalty.

Ride found, thanks!

Our Soling is being repainted so David and I are available if anyone needs crew. Package deal - one highly experienced sailor who can handle any position and one enthusiastic novice who can follow instructions and do whatever needs to be done. Call or PM me at info on my sig. line.

Thomas, if you're referring to what it says under your name on this board, I think that relates to how many posts you've made, not your membership status. If you weren't referring to that, nevermind.  8)

Well, we got out there but then the wind was picking up to the point where David was not comfortable risking our little beat up boat (and our shiny new sails), especially with the water as cold as it was - if anything had happened and we had gone into the water, it would have been serious. So on this rare occasion, common sense won out and we headed back to SSY Hope everyone had fun and hopefully the old blue soling will be out next week!! :)

Just hoping the ice in the bottom in the Soling will have melted by race time! Brrrr-r-r-r-r-r!

FWIW, I'd really love to see the interior of that place get lightened up a bit. It's just too dark and "heavy" looking for a waterside hangout (and this comes from someone who's extremely light sensitive)  8) Especially with the new name, lighter and brighter would really make it fun. That's just my $.02.

I like Shiner but David pretty much exclusively drinks Coor's Light.

I just fill a big-a$$ thermos "almost" full of hot chocolate, then pour in spiced rum until I can just seal it without any spillage :)
