Come out and Cheer On GBCA this Saturday in the Texas Challenge Cup!
We will be racing against LYC, HYC and TCYC for the coveted trophy. Selected sailors from each club will compete in 5 races aboard J22's, J80's and Sonars.
Spectator Boats and lots of screaming and yelling and cheering for GBCA is strongly encouraged!
Where? In HYC's racing area?
The NOR doesn't say exactly but HYC is the host club so I will assume that racing will take place near HYC.
Yup. Sounds probable.
Thanks
Who is the PRO? I want to ask them if it's OK for me to do post-race chair massage. :)
Anyone have any idea when the first gun goes off?
This is what I understand:

Uggggggh. Not going to get up that early but may be able to begin the "encouragement" around 11:00 or 12. Keep the racing going and hope for wind.
With luck Team Stinker will be there.
Hmm. I think I need to change the name on my boat. A little black and white furry kitty should become the new graphic as well.
Who's racing on which boats?
This is the last I heard -- Good Luck to our GBCA Racers!!
J22:
Stuart Lindow
Pete Sutch
Evan Smith
J80:
Paul Parsons
Bobby Mac
Don Glasgow
Andrew Lee

Check.
There was going to be a Sonar class with 4 boats provided by TCYC. As of Tuesday TCYC has withdrawn from the competition due to "crewing challenges".
5 races planed, 1 race constitutes a regatta; to be held up by HYC.
Each boat required to have 2 skippers as 1 is not permitted to helm more than 3 races, per NOR.
Skippers meeting @ 1900 Friday
First Warning @ 0930 Saturday
Awards @ 1900 Saturday
Looks like some fine racing weather today. Race fast Team GBCA.
See you out there!
Looking great out here! GBCA 8, Lyc 13, HYC 15. Stinger, Ohno, Tramp, J.Mather out here in a floatilla of support!!
Yup. Absolutely beautiful weather. Stinger managed to have a really good time watching both the J22 and J80
fleets go at it. Tight racing in the 80's from what we could see. It was fascinating for me ( Bee ) to watch this.
From a 3D point of view the tactics were quite interesting. Since I'm usually on the helm I rarely get to see
the racing from this perspective. Had a great time and hope this was true for everyone.
Who won?
That would be.....GBCA!!!
So the previous scores were final.
Here you go Bee!

A beatiful day of racing with some very tight battles going on, leading to numerous position and lead changes. It was great sitting on the markset boat watching the battles coming up the course; especially the couple of neck-and-neck mark roundings. I wish I had had a good camera with me as there were some great money shots. The fifth race was needed to break the tie between GBCA and LYC in the J22 class. J80's were always so close at the top mark that it could have gone either way, but our guys prevailed on the downwind to take five bullets.
Final score as follows:
J22 R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 Total Place
GBCA 2 2 1 1 1 7 1
LYC 1 1 2 2 2 8 2
HYC 3 3 3 3 3 15 3
J80 R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 Total Place
GBCA 1 1 1 1 1 5 1
LYC 3 2 3 3 2 13 2
HYC 2 3 2 2 3 12 3
Total Place
GBCA 12 1
LYC 21 2
HYC 27 3
The cheering coming from Tramp made it all that much better.
We've successfully returned the trophies to their proper display case!
Way to go GBCA.
Thanks Chris. Nice to see who was doing what out there. Impressed by those five bullets.
It really was neat to watch from several vantage points. As we sailed around we got to see
one beautiful start and several roundings. Wish we could have gotten out there earlier.
Loading pictures up as we speak. Scott took the pictures and I was the helmsman. ;D
