The Saturday forecast sure looks nice for some shorthanded racing. 65? temps. Spring in Texas.

Link to the race course (https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/regatta_uploads/2627/Conundrum%20Chart.jpg). Time to sharpen those pencils, and do a little homework...
Let's see: 3 to the 3 power is 9 combinations...but no repeats, you've got to hit them all so 6 combinations:
EHJ
JHE
HEJ
HJE
JEH
EJH
Apparently, I'm thinking about the alphabet soup too much

Maybe it's time to goto the
BAR
and find some
RUM
and figure this
OUT
:D

I'll join you for that rum drink while I let my other half (who only drinks Coor's Light) figure this out.  ??? :)

Chris, since we can only go to each mark once (we can't go to the same mark 3 times and call it a day) it's 3! (ie 3*2*1) instead of 3^3 that's why you came up with 6 permutations. Ow, my brain hurts. ;D

I'm not seeing anything listed about a skippers' meeting. Is there going to be one?

Thanks! We did get all the instructions, but David thought it was odd that there was no meeting so we just wanted to double check.  See you Saturday!

Who should PHRF certificates be emailed to?
Title: Re: Conundrum Regatta III: March 13th

The best option is to upload 2010 PHRF certificate at registration thru Regatta Networks.
Option B is to scan/e-mail Leigh Ann (lahsailing@gmail.com) or me (ckelley@cobfen.com)

The following message was sent to all competitors via the e-mail address given during registration, but we thought it best to post here as well:

Conundrum Competitors,

The question was asked "Where do I find the SI".  The answer is " there is a link on the electronic official notice board". Since the question indicates a complete lack of knowledge of the electronic official notice board, we felt it important to point out it's existence and location:

https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_notice_board.php?regatta_id=2627  (https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_notice_board.php?regatta_id=2627)

It looks like we may have true "Conundrum" weather, with a good chance of west wind at the start. Please review the start, gate and finish line configurations in the SI, since it is entirely possible there will be a downwind start.

Good luck!

25 boats already. That beats last year!
And with the wind forecast, somebody bring a camera....
Some damn good competition lining up.
The entry list/registration is getting more interesting by the minute!!

It was a fun day on the water. Do these GBCA races ever have lighter winds.  They seem more like rodeos!  Who cooked all that good rice sausage and chicken?  That was the best meal we've had in the ten months we've been in this club.

The chef was my lovely girlfriend Mary Miller.  She spent most of Saturday with cooking, setup, and cleanup.  YES I forgot to give her proper recognition at the party....

Charles: The scars run deep...*sigh*

So what was the (dare I say) mostly agreed solution to the Conundrum this year, E-J-H?

I can tell you that going to J first didn't quite work out for us.
(So much for the theory of knocking out the longest leg/beat before the wind cranks up...)

Speaking of wind, we saw 18, gusts to 23. One short blast hit 26 late in the day coming back from E.
That one upped the excitment level a notch as we spilled our beers and dragged the boom in the water.  :(
Next time we'll just have to drink them faster.
We had some great fun in some challenging conditions!

J-H-E for us.  We rounded up a wee bit on the way back from E, with water over the combing.. Woo Hoo

We saw your boom hit the water!  Those winds certainly were NOT what we had seen in any of the predictions. Fortunately we only sacrificed one beer to the wind gods.

We chose J first, not so much to get the longest leg out of the way, but because the way the wind had been forecast to shift (yeah right, so much for that), we thought the conditions would be more favorable for us to go that direction first. In hindsight, we would have gone to E, but considering how much of a newbie I am to all of this (as well as being visually impaired), to come in 2nd under those conditions had me pretty stoked!  :D ;D

(I love this photo of us going around the mark while the wind was screaming! (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2731/4431886024_b8df46de92.jpg)

You are very welcome Mary.  See if Chris will put you on the payroll as GBCACIC.  GBCA Chef In Charge.  We went H E J.  I wished I had gone H J E. We rounded J and saw 26k.  The Kemah bridge looked like it was up around I-10!  More rice /sausage please!!!

My favorite food so far this year was the red and green chili that the Caldwell's cooked up for the Icicle!  We discovered the leftover rice was great for breakfast - warm it up in the frying pan, when it gets hot break some eggs on top and let the bottom crisp like a hash - you end up with sunny side up jambalaya!

Well, Tramp took a vacation and went to Lake Charles and we have had very slow internet so I have not been able to get the rest of the Cinundrum III pics loaded so I loaded another 351 photos last night before the connection died.  Still have 159 that I will try loading tonight. Enjoy,
