No points, but you will definitely get something!

Sorry about that.
Here is a link to the required equipment. https://regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/regatta_uploads/5111/ExcerptofSOSTEXBylaws.pdf
Also auto-pilots are allowed.

I'll try to get this in a more centralized place where you can find it.

Will tee shirts be available at the rum race this weekend?  ;D
Not this weekend. Probably not until Rum Race 5.
But if you want to reserve some, let me know the size and I'll make sure you get them.

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: Race to the Border
June 04, 2013, 02:44:17 PM
9 Boats started.
7 Boats finished.
2 broken booms.
The fleet had some squally weather on Sunday morning, followed by light winds.  Several crews reported that the squall was the most fun on the whole trip; others had different opinions.
Cache pulled into Port O'Connor Sunday, and was on the way back to Galveston on Monday.  Rosalita pulled into Port Aransas.
Cimboca finished the race under headsails alone, as her boom also broke on an unintentional jibe. Seute Deern being hauled to have a broken thru-hull replaced.
No injuries on any of the boats.  :)

The 7 finishers all finished on Monday.  First one in at 0949 and last one at 1849.  The Laguna Madre Yacht Club hosted a reception Monday night, and graciously offered their club for the awards banquet on Wednesday evening.

We just finished having cheeseburgers at Pirates Landing overlooking beautiful Laguna Madre. Tonight is the famous bonfire.

What about the boats that can carry both sym and asym spinnakers?  There are symetric boats rated to carry asymetric (code zero's) as well.
Note that the spin class is divided into Sprit and Non-sprit, not sym vs. asym.
We are doing this split as a trial for this series.

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: Texas Navy Trophy

With two races (LYC and HYC) complete, and three to go (Texas Race Week), the race for the Texas Navy Trophy comes down to four boats, and it's anybody's game.
If those four boats participate in Texas Race Week, this will be the points going in:
Avici - 1
Airborne - 1
Aeolus - 2
Stinger - 2

Remember only two of the three Texas Race Week races will count toward the Texas Navy Trophy.

You will all recognize that I am a glutton for punishment.  I have set up a password less Kattack feed for the reach down the beach
and for the HYC Offshore on Saturday.  Feed will be live after 5:00 AM on the 26th.

Did it work?

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Texas Navy Trophy
March 25, 2013, 11:40:08 AM
There have been some questions about how the winner of the Texas Navy Trophy is determined. Hopefully this should clear it up.

  • In order to qualify for the Texas Navy Trophy consideration, the yacht must participate in the LYC Heald Bank race PHRF Spinnaker class, the HYC Offshore race PHRF Spinnaker class, AND GBCA Texas Race Week PHRF Spinnaker class.
  • Only one of either the LYC race or the HYC race will be counted. However the yacht MUST participate in both races.
  • Only two of the races in GBCA Texas Race Week will be counted.
  • A yacht?s finish in each race will be determined by how she finished relative to the other qualified yachts in that race.  Therefore a yacht?s finish number in the LYC and HYC races cannot be determined until GBCA Texas Race Week because it will be unknown if a yacht is qualified until then.
  • If a yacht does not finish a race, her score will be number of qualified yachts plus one.
  • The number of qualified yachts will be the number of yachts that participate in GBCA Texas Race Week PHRF spinnaker class that also participated in both the LYC Heald Bank spinnaker class and the HYC Offshore race spinnaker class.  This number cannot be determined until the last event, GBCA Texas Race Week.

Would you guys put up with a J105?  Might be a bit unfair, but just think of the kudos when you kick my butt.
Bee, you are welcome to join. But don't think you will start with your normal PHRF rating.  And don't be leaving your airconditioner on the dock!
