Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: Women's Regatta pics

Yes, thank you for a fun regatta.  This race proves that a C&C Landfall 35 will not go to weather in light air; does OK on a reach.  I would question the ability to put a trimaran in with monohulls.  No one else tris (pun intended) to do that.

We the racers need to know now if the final Rum Race is going to be at the standard start times and where the after race party will be held.  Is there any decisions made on this?

Is there a mechanism in the club for postponing officially?  Can it be done?  Who has the authority and how do you get the info to the racers?

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: Why are we not racing?

There may be a very good reason this Saturday, with winds of up to 50 kts predicted.  Is there even a mechanism for cancelling a Rum Race?  Is anyone in the club authorized to make this decision and how would it be disseminated to the racers?  That's more questions than I should ask.  But here are some more.  Can we even get out with the tides and surge they are predicting.  Is the club liable for any injuries or damage to boats when you send people out in these conditions.

What is RaceQ?  Does is require a 4G smartphone with G
PS activation.  I don't have that.

We racers really need more start information on the Spring Fling Regatta since it greatly effects trip start, crew notice, etc.  Can we get something soon.

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: 2014 Rum Race Series

There have been complaints about boats not turning in their time for the Club Handicap.  It would help if you would publish a web address that we can send them to.
Anyway,  Gemini, sail number 55 had a finish time of 19:50:20 if anyone cares, for the race on 08/23/2014.  Race #7

Would someone get this info to Kevin Box of Chris Dees or whoever is running it this year.

You might want to change the title at the top of the results.  It still says Icicle Series ;D

Gemini, a C&C 35 would be willing to participate.  I have a bubble head as crew.

That was a great race with some great food after it.  I am probably the skipper that Katana is talking about concerning the flag.  I was flying it, but during the race it slid down to the bimini top.  I retied it and pushed it up again.  It slid down again and I didn't notice it.  Can we tie it somewhere other than the backstay?  Mine is almost unreachable.

There were some very nice pictures taken during the race start.  Wil these be posted for download later?

I am having trouble with this system.  I need to contact Kevin Box and find out how to get in the Club Handicap system.  It said to use the disc. forum, but how??

If you are looking for Piloting and Nav skills as well as a large dose of safety, i recommend you look at joining the Power Squadron.  Nobody does it better.

There is an Open House this Saturday from 1200 to 2PM at the Strickler Bldg. on the Lakewood Yacht Club grounds where you can find out all you need to know about the Galveston Bay Sail and Power Squadron.  Come see our facility and get free food and drink.  GBSPS is one of the premiere safety and education organizations for boating.  Boating is fun, let us show you how.
