General Discussion / Electronics Overhaul
March 31, 2021, 12:21:11 PM
I have an Oceanis 390 1989 with old electronics that I want to upgrade.  I plan to do some coastal cruising and trip to Bahamas/us Virgins with two person crew.  Looking for recommendations for a new system.  Radar, chart plotter, AIS, battery management, autopilot / wind vance, depth and anything else you recommned.  I want a high value system that is easy to operate.  Don't want to spend a fortune.  What systems would you recommend and what are your recommendations for installation.  Perhaps someone I can consult with for a fee.  I'm looking for someone that can work with me to install it right.  I can do some work with guidance.  Best Regards

Crew Finder / Re: Crew needed for delivery
March 31, 2021, 12:12:42 PM
Hi,
Your post is interesting.  I have an oceanis 390 and I'm interested in getting some off shore experience from someone that knows what they are doing.  No offense, but is this an amater or proffesional delivery?  How many crew do you have and are they experienced?  Are you sailing directly across they gulf or in the ditch or coastal saling.  I've sailed a boat from Miami to yankee town on the West coast of florida and chartered sailed in the Bahamas 3 times.  I've also done the harvesnt moon and sails to Freeport and Port Oconner in my boat.  I'm 64 and in good health and can make the time for deliveries.

Can I use an inflatable dingy that is inflated and ready to launch as a life raft for the race to the border or do I have to rent a life raft?

I'm looking for a experienced crew member or two to help my wife and 24 yr old son sail from Galveston to Padre Island in the June 3 race to the border.  I have a 1988 Oceanis 390.  Wife and son have limited sailing experience and seek the added security of having an experienced sailor on board to help with watches.
