Bob, Bayou Baby actually raced in the spinnaker class (before we lost our jib).
We carried the white flag on top and the orange below - in honor of Kevin Box.
Sorry for the confusion.

Andrea Todaro is the PRO for HMR.
Her contact info is on the NOR - (harvestmoonregatta.com).

Late guys (cool breeze, cruising into the sunset) - 47.2% (38.9 plus 8.3) clearly in the lead versus early guys at 38.9% (sweltering heat, crew has a hard time to get there in time from Houston and Katy).
Consider keeping the early start for the cruising class (one hour earlier) or a shorter course, but give the rest of us late guys back something to look forward to!

I second Brad's post.

Figaro crew prefers the later start.
I realize that it would take two sets of starting times but I like Ed's suggestion to shorten the course for the handicap class.
Consider using the high range instead of the low range ("E").

A little more competition would be nice, particularly on the distance courses.
Where are the PHRF non-spin guys? Classic Canvas?

General Discussion / Re: Fuel polishing service

Diesel Fuel Maintenance recently cleaned both fuel tanks on Bayou Baby.
The upfront fee was 400 $.
The job took longer significantly longer than expected because the fuel was old and quite contaminated.
They stuck to the originally agreed upon price.
I recommend them.

In dark fog you have rounded Buccaneer - recognizable only by lights and sound - and now at about 2:00 AM you are drifting wing on wing with genoa poled out and main on preventer, both luffing, yet the GPS shows 0.9 knots SOG. Conclusion: we must be drifting with the current, only the wrong way -  back to the weather mark.  Setting the anchor was a tactical consideration.
Eventually, after some painful hours, the breeze picked up and we managed to finish without tossing the anchor.
Congratulations to fellow GBCA racers on Tenacious and Stinger for winning their classes! Supreme light wind experts!
A memorable race none the less.

I compared the GPS time on two Garmin units before the race. They were 3 seconds apart.
For pursuit races I like HYC's time penalty options.

This time it will still be the old Figaro.
We plan to bring "Bayou Baby" out for Judge Smails.
