Yippee Ki Yay.  ...looks like uhhh fun I think.  Weather forecast keeps changing but it looks like a wet and lumpy ride at least after rounding and coming home.

From Weather.Gov: Saturday...Northwest winds 25 to 30 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning.
Saturday Night...North winds 20 to 30 knots becoming 20 to 25 knots after midnight. Seas 5 to 7 feet.

Seeya Friday at the skpps meeting.

Thanks guys.  I've tried to call LCYC a few times b/c I know they let you camp on the hill with tents but am not sure about the pop up trailer.

Anyone know of a campground nearby the Canyon Lake Yacht Club?  ...maybe some of y'all that have done the wurstfest?

I'm heading up with my opti sailor and thinking of camping in the pop up rather than getting a hotel.

Thanks,

Jay Z.

No football excuses this week  ::)  The Texans are resting up for the Super Bowl.
Come out and win yo-self a bird. Last race of the year until the HYC Revognah...

Bee, on a sidenote, I see a new? J105 in town: 'Killer Rabbit'...

....Tell at least two of my regulars that sitting around on a weekend watching football is no excuse for not being outside on the water!

I've got it marked on my Calender now.  ...I have to make sure that work doesn't get in the way.  May 2012 isn't really that long from now so any of ya'll that are thinking about it start thinking about what your boat needs to sail 400 nM to be safe and comfortable.

...I wonder if there is a way I can turn my boat's 200 gallons of water tanks into a beer keg by then?

General Discussion / Outboard repair recommendation
October 28, 2011, 02:11:46 PM
Hi all,

I've got a couple small outboard that need repair.  ...pretty simple stuff I think one needs a new float and the other some ignition work and maybe a carb rebuild.

Anyone care to recommend a shop?
Thanks,

Thanks Chris.

Quick question, isn't there some noise about a race to Gulfport or something returning to replace the Veracruz Race?

It seems like the same exact mistake that HYC made with it's offshore race this past year.
I don't even remember if they posted and NOR for the offshore race this past year.

If you don't put out the registration forms nobody can register.

The challenge cup is a great idea and shoudl be something that is looked forward to each year.

I don't know exactly how it is organized but I think the three major clubs need to organize a committee and hold each of the other clubs accountable for their responsibilities in making the regatta happen.  -particularly the hosting club responsibilities.

That guy should not have been racing.  It looked to me like he tacked right on top of you and the couldn't get any boat speed then drifted down on top of you.  Later on the 2nd leg we were on port, he was on starboard.  As I should have done, I started to duck under his stern.  Apparently not knowing he had right of way, he decided to duck under my stern.  When I then headed up, he headed up.  I ended up flopping over just to get away from him.  No excuse for not knowing the basic rules of the road.  Red #55.

...Mostly agree.  However everyone needs to start somewhere and the Rum Races are teh perfect into into racing and thus boat handling.    On your port/starboard crossing...  maybe he got nervous?

Great day on the bay.  Nice Winds and a good crew aboard Banjo Girl.  Now we just need to find some more speed out of the old gir!

Hey guys,  I sent an email to "info at racetotheborder" on the 11th of May pulling BANJO GIRL out of the race.  I am not sure if it was never picked up on y'alls end but the boat will not be competing this year.

Please make sure the the RC and competitors know this.

There are 6 spin boats registered. Yes, I know they are a mix of asym and sym but we race against each other all the time so there is really no reason to not combine these two due to the lack of boats to make separate classes. In every other offshore race (Heald, TRW, HMR, RTTB, RDA) these two classes are run together as a spin fleet so not going because there is not a defined class per NOR is a little ridiculous in my opinion.

Personally, I just want to go race. I do not care if we race against sym, asym, a -100 rater, or a 200 rater, I just want to go out. The weather is damn near perfect right now and offshore sailing (at least to me) sounds very appealing right now.

To you guys complaining about the weather...its supposed to blow 18-22 knts on friday and saturday. Please explain to me why you complained about a drifter two weeks ago in the Heald and now there is a forecast for strong breeze offshore and now it is too windy and you want the race cancelled??? C'mon guys, this is just dumb. Offshore racing is supposed to be challenging. It is about boat preparation, long term strategy, endurance, safety, and sailing smart.

Hopefully I will see everyone out on friday. If not, I will be just another 25 year old who is rapidly losing faith in the future of this sport.

Leigh and I already have plans to be out in Kerville driving through the hills well above the posted speed limits with a slew of vintage sports cars so I can't make it otherwise I'd be there to show support.

It kind of makes me sad that the sport of "offshore" racing seems to be really suffering around here lately.

I think it would be very wise and a good gesture on their part  if HYC extended the registration beyond Easter Sunday.
