General Discussion / Re: Julia Goetschius

Julie was kind enough to sail with me a few times on the J80 and the J22. She introduced many new sailors to the thrill of racing and worked tirelessly to help build the local J22 fleet for many years. She was also a constant source of encouragement to Betsie during her long battle with cancer. She was a kind and caring soul who will be sorely missed.  RIP

Did you find enough crew?
If not, let me know and I will put you in touch with a good trimmer.

Thanks to all of you who came on Saturday to share in the celebration of Betsie's amazing life.  She ordered up perfect weather for us and the facility was filled with people who knew and loved her.  Just a reminder to all of us that life is short and every day is precious and should not be wasted.

For all those who have been asking, we have selected a time and place for Betsie's Memorial Celebration.  It will begin at 3pm on March 31 at the pavilion in Clear Lake Shores. Casual Dress. Hope to see you there.

Thanks Walter for posting this, and thanks for the support so many of you have shown me over the past couple weeks.

May depend somewhat on trailer and lifting arrangement.  With single point lift, the issue may be getting the boat high enough to clear the trailer.

Anybody seen photos from Line "A"?
Saw several photographers snapping pics...

Ben does solid work but I have always trusted my boat to Tom/Waterline Works.  Not cheap, but quality costs...

I owned two different 80's several years back and agree it is a great boat for the bay.  Stands up to conditions you might not want to experience on other boats.  Great daysailor/teaching boat/booze cruiser too.  Sadly, the local fleet is in a bit of a decline and struggles to get a solid turnout at all but the biggest regattas.  Oftentime it only takes a few "spark plug" owners to turn things around....

Are the results posted somewhere for RR 6?

The pole is on land in the middle of a parking lot.  No way to get your boat under it, even if it were tall/strong enough.

Contact some of the big boat hauling companies and ask for a quote.  They will have trailers equipped to tow it.

+1 for Kevin Severance.  Used him for years and always had great service.
Recently switched to Geico though after Progressive hiked their rates.
