We are planning to hold a post race social after Rum Race #8 this Saturday at True North Marine on FM2094. We are planning to hold the event in the boat yard. If it rains, there is no indoor plan.

We will have RR awards present as well as awards from previous events for pick up. We will also have the collector's edition Rum Race 2020 shirts for sale and pick up.

We will require that current CDC requirements be met in regards to masks and social distancing. If you need to pick up an award, or would like to purchase/pick up some shirts and unable to make the social, please give me a shout and I will see what we can do to accommodate you.

Thank you for a weird season.

Cheers....

What's the planned minimum for a one design class? The NOR just says RC discretion. We're trying to get on the order of 4-5 J/24s out there.

Thank you Ryan for the catch... I am not used to people reading the NOR and SIs... :-) Changed templates and we missed that small detail...

I think it would be great to get everyone on J-24s...

NOR for the GBCA Women's Regatta is posted.

Maybe we can get a class of RS21s, or all 12 out there?

We should easily have a dozen of J-22s also...

This regatta requirements is easy; woman drives... can have male and/or female crew...

Scott, is there a link to the short-handed class rules somewhere? The SIs state "class will sail in accordance with the GBCA Shorthanded rules" so I just want to know what I'm getting myself into. Did I read correctly that shorthanders use their normal PHRF ratings? If so, given that we don't subdivide the class, are we free to use our spin or our nonspin rating any given week? I'm still working out how to use my spin since Trick Bag is most definitely not set up for singlehanding.

We will have the Shorthanded Rules up very shortly... I have consulted an expert in streamlining the rules from the SOS-TX and a few other shorthanded venues.

did the shorthanded rules ever get posted?

We are finalizing them..

I have added an attachment to the Sailing Instructions for Rum Races; Attachment #4 picture of Mid-Bay #8 marker.

I cannot guarantee the same number of pelicans will be on the mark when you round, but it is the same mark.

Please double check your start time in the SIs.

It was brought to my attention that I had attached the wrong PHRF matrix.

Just FYI, I believe this is also the rescheduled date for Keels and Wheels.

Unfortunately so... The other option is to cancel it.

The only available date in the fall has taken home of the Performance Cup Regatta; October 17-18.

Notice of Race & Regatta Documents are as follows: https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/20174#_home

I have replaced the Notice of Race to hopefully minimize confusion.

I had a friend forward the NOR and SI to me. It looks like a good idea. SOO, why not post them on the web site?   I know there is a conflict with the Peanut Regatta but it gives options.

the SDR is not a sanctioned GBCA event.

From the poll, we had enough to press forward.

Regatta Documents: https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/20657

With this, the Competitor's Briefing will be via teleconference and there will be NO POST PARTY on Saturday after the race. We will post when the awards presentation will be when we see things getting back to normal.

Please make sure everyone understands they are to comply with regulations that apply to them. Here is a link to Harris County's explanation https://www.readyharris.org/Stay-Home

We are sending out a poll to get people's temperature of who would sail, who would've sailed but not comfortable with it...
