Please note that the true Mar Kat uses squirt but I have also found that Fresca is an acceptable substitute!  Can't wait for our favorite TRW bartender to whip up some more Mar Kats - a drink is like a sandwich, it always seems to taste better when someone makes it for you!

"also, I have run across a few new sailors that have attended the social parties and never confronted from any of the "regulars"... they have told me they will not go back"

Scott - exactly what is this supposed to mean?  Just trying to understand with exactly who and why there would be a "confrontation" and why new people won't come back because they were "never confronted".

Does anyone know where the finish line is going to be in Galveston?  I'm assuming somewhere on east beach but would appreciate any information that anyone has.

I think a road trip on Saturday is a fine idea!  There is some good video of how bad the storm was on SA.

There are a number of boats that are doing just the last leg from Surfside to Galveston, including my Hydrodyn crew mates Dave and Larry!

Glad to hear the Sutton's and the other folks that were also airlifted out are OK.

trust me Scott - it is a sporadic sight!

It's also pretty cool when you finish at dusk/dark to look back and see all the tricolors/steaming lights behind you!

Great photos.  The new kite on Hydrodyn sure looks nice!

General Discussion / Very sad news
May 01, 2010, 08:14:24 PM
For those of you who made not have already heard, Kinky (Tim) Hoepfner passed away on Friday.  There will be a celebration of his life on Thursday May 6 at 6 PM at the Club Classic.  He was an institution at the Classic Cafe, loved by all and will be greatly missed.

I know we have many folks from Dallas/Ft. Worth/Corpus Christi that follow our discussion forum.  Would any of you care to chime in on the status of racing in your neck of the woods?  Is there anything that you folks have tried to stem the loss of participation that seems to be working?

This is the same chatter that take up several threads on other more nationally-read webpages.  Galveston Bay is not the only area experiencing this trend.

Kudos to all involved, it was certainly missed when Ike took it out.
