Obviously, the solution is for all of you to sell your boats and buy J/24s  ;)

As the local evangelist... have you heard the good news about racing J/24s?

I would be interested in sitting down with you for a lunch to discuss your ideas for next year and how we can get more J-24s out.

I'd be happy to. I'll PM you my phone number and we can find a day. I expect you'll see us out more this year just by virtue of the fact that there are actually more of us active this year. We have 3 confirmed for the Icicle Races, and might get more to show up. We have enough boats and crews to get 8-9 out there by the end of the year.

Also- I know it's a lot to ask on short notice, but the NOR says "1 long or 2 shorter" races. Would it be possible to do 2 races for the PHRF Spin fleet- one distance, and one windward/leeward? The fleet looks like it's going to have some huge variety in terms of boat designs and it would be pretty cool to do a mixed series.

If that doesn't work for this regatta (and it probably won't), it might be fun to try next season.

By what time do chili entries need to be at the clubhouse?

If you're still looking, the J/24 fleet is expanding and we can probably find you a spot for 2020.

Interested in racing J/24s next season? We're working toward having a 9-10 boat fleet again in the near future and we're always looking for new crew.

Crew Finder / Need 1 crew for Wurstfest II
October 30, 2019, 01:39:12 PM
Trick Bag, a freshly rebuilt J/24, needs one crewmember in the 130-140 lb range for Wurstfest II at Lake Canyon Yacht Club on 11/9-11/10. Able tactician preferred, but it's a mast/pit position so no specific J/24 experience is needed.

We plan to camp out at LCYC. The yacht club is covering dinner Friday and breakfast Saturday and Sunday. I'll cover lunches while racing and dinner Saturday. We are a serious race boat but the cooler will be well stocked with post-race beers. Shoot me a note if you'd like to hit the road with us!

Crew Finder / Crew needed for HOOD
September 13, 2019, 07:05:33 PM
I need a foredeck or a headsail trimmer for my J24 for the HOOD Regatta. Two days of racing 9/21-22. Let me know if you're interested!

We also have two out of town boats that could use more crew, so let me know if you have friends who might also be interested.

Deja Vu will be racing tonight.
...Friday, I mean. I got a little over-excited there...

And then we can all try our hardest to avoid the wreck to the northwest of the pipe on the new rhumb line  :D

I never appreciated what a mess this bay is until I started sailing on a boat that draws 7 feet!

Update: it appears the obstruction is likely the "Pipe PA" flagged on NOAA chart 11326 as a black square just northwest of Red Fish Island.

Passing this on from Jay Livingston. Deja Vu struck a submerged object this afternoon just off the rhumb line between the start and the red Rum Race marker. Given that they went sideways after hitting it hard, Jay suspects it is a pipe. They did not take on water but the damage was significant. There was no obstruction noted at this location on his charts. I'm trying to compare with the NOAA charts to see if I can figure out what he hit... but I guess the lesson here is never over stand on leg 1!
