Is registration closed for these? On the one hand, the NOR said the deadline was Thursday... but on the other hand, almost no one is signed up this year.

(I forgot to register but was hoping to at least sail doubles, so I'll sign up if it's still open.)

I know that the current scoring system had an impact on the outcome of the J/24 rankings last season, and at least 3 out of the 5 of us are in favor of changing to the RRS low point system (including the two skippers whose positions would have been reversed had the RRS system been used last season). Low point has the advantage of both rewarding boats for sailing every race, AND for finishing every race you start. That said, we don't oppose having some throw-aways baked in to the rules- these are summer races, after all.

In all other aspects, I'll echo Gary's sentiments that the Race Committee does an outstanding job running consistently fun races (And a great party to boot). It can't be easy trying to make everyone happy.

(Or Viper, or Melges, or... something fast. You get the idea.)

I would also consider taking less for the jacket if you own an RS Aero or a modern multihull and would be willing to let me join you for a day or two on the water.

Un-Classified Ads / NEW Gill CR11J Coastal Racing Jacket
September 12, 2017, 10:04:55 AM
Just in time for Harvest Moon, I have a brand new Gill CR11J Coastal Racing Jacket, still with the tags on it, men's size XL in silver. I bought the wrong size, and since it's a clearance item I can't return it and need to buy another. My loss is your gain- $125 takes it. That's $5 less than the clearance price from Gill, *and* I'll eat the shipping cost. Regular price is $239. Local pickup in Friendswood, or I can bring it to you in the Clear Lake area.

Hey, did anyone get any photos from the Doubles race? I saw photos for the Singles race posted on the Facebook page, but none for Doubles.

(Thanks again to the race committee, it was an awesome day on the water!)

How much begging am I going to have to do it my PHRF-GB certificate hasn't arrived by Saturday? My boat is showing up as registered on the PHRF-GB site, but I don't have any paper I  hand yet.

Steve Press was still racing it earlier this summer, so I presume he still owns it unless he's sold it in the last month.  We haven't seen him out in a few weeks though. I found an old email address for Steve, but it bounced.

Boo. Ok, registered for non-spin. It'll give Hamburg someone to beat, at least!

I plan to sign up Sunday, as soon as we figure out if we can fly the spinnaker without dying!

Update: have reached out to On The Edge. But if you all could rat out the other J/24 owners, that would be swell  :)

I just want to know if it's going to be class start or pursuit. It'll be my first race at helm, and I'm sure hoping to minimize the number of insurance claims I have to file after the race :)

Let me also add: if you happen to be the owner of one of the roughly dozem or so sad, lonely, undersailed J/24s in the Clear Lake area, let's talk about what it's going to take to get your boat back out on the water and reinvigorating the class locally.
