As Dave said in his post,  "After extensive discussion, the BOG is willing to support ORC provided a sufficient number boat owners obtain ORC rating certificates to make the effort worthwhile. "  when enough skippers obtain an ORC certificate, GBCA will attempt to have an ORC class.  So, as soon as any of you get your certificate, let someone on the GBCA board know.

Every year Stinger does LYC's Harvest Moon Regatta.   Some time ago, Stinger  made the return Sunday after the HMR party with full crew.  Not sure any of us were in good enough condition to race back, but we probably would have been if the race back had been the following week.

I'm sure everyone can see where I am going with this.  Why wouldn't a Two-Step wrapped around the Harvest Moon Regatta work?  This is something I have talked about, proposed, and discussed since the first time I did the HMR.  Regardless of whether this is an option or not, boats in PA after the HMR will likely return.  Why not make the HMR and HMR return the two GBCA races required for the Navy Trophy?

Two of the Navy Cup races must be GBCA sponsored events.  Obviously the HMR is not.  The return trip could be, but again, getting crew for back to back 150nm races might be difficult.

Ahoy Everyone!

I'm new to GBCA and I'm looking forward checking out the forum.

My name is Sherron and I've completed ASA101. My bf and I have taken out a Colgate 26 and Catalina 25 a few times in the bay and lake. We are looking to join a crew to gain more sailing skills and to have fun on the water! He has way more experience than me and has raced/crewed multiple times in the New England area. I am a bit of a novice and ideally, I think it would be a BLAST to join a crew for the Wednesday night races. I've raced motorcycles so I would say racing may feed my soul  :P

For the Wednesday night races, check out CLRA site @:  http://www.clearlakeracing.org/

Dear GBCA administrator.

My name is Alain Rouault, I am French and I will move permanently at the end of the month to Houston.
I will install my family and we will be here for work at least for 3/5 years.
I practice sailing and racing since I am 5 year old.

My father in law has a boat, a red JBoat J133, since 2007.
It is a 13m1 length boat with asymmetrical spinnaker, his name is JIVARO ( FRA 27967).

I am skipper and with my wife we did several races with this boat, with or without my father in law.
Please, see bellow some of the biggest race we did:

    Rolex Fastnet (2009,2011,2013)
    Rolex Middle Sea Race (2015)
    Rolex Giraglia (2014,2015)
    Comodore's Cup (2010,2012)
    Cowes Week (2009,2010,2011,2012,2013)
    Voiles de Saint Tropez (2014)
    Semaines de Porquerolles (2014,2015)
    SPI Ouest France (2009,2010,2011,2012,2013)

We like the race spirit and we would like to continue to sail in Houston.
Could you give us some advise or some contacts who could be interested by our competencies?
We expect to find a team that we can help and we would like share our experiences.
We can do everything in a team.
We are familiar with big boat, like more than 20m, and little boat, like sport boat (Longtze).

Please, let us know, if you can help us.

Best regards,
Alain Rouault

All Catalina 22 owners and prospective crew are invited to a Catalina Fleet Party.  It will be held at the home of Kevin Orff at 2876 Alentina Court, League City, in the Tuscan Lakes subdivision.   March 12th, 2 to 6 PM.  Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Beer and Soda will be provided.  This is a great opportunity to meet other Catalina 22 racers and get yourself a crew position for the CLRA Wednesday night races.

The GBCA board and Race Captain are just trying to do what we are hearing that the racers want.  We have been told that the aftermarket sprit boats  think they can't compete with a factory sprit boat, so we have been experimenting with the split fleet to see if participation increases.  Also, we have had better participation overall when we offer distance courses to everyone.  Maybe everyone is getting old.  If anyone has suggestions on how to make our races better, please come to a board meeting with your ideas.  We meet the third Tuesday of ever month ;at 7:00PM.

OK,  I'll start the discussion about adding an hour to the Icicle race time.  For those of us that have lived here for more then  a few years know that the wind in January, blows in cycles. One day 20+ kts. one day 5 to 15 kts. and one day calm,  back to 5 to 15 and so on. Anyway for this reason it wouldn't hurt to add an hour when we hit one of of those calm days during the Icicle. I don't care if we start an hour earlier or extend the cutoff time an hour.
It could help the after party, by having more winners rum handed out vs just one or two bottles  when less boats time out.
I would like to see the time limit extended for next weeks Judge Smails Regatta, but if not, it needs consideration for next year.

I don't have a problem with extending the cutoff time by an hour.

So I paid my $40 for a 2016 PHRF certificate.  How long does it take to be able to see it on the PHRFGB site?

I downloaded mine about two weeks ago

Another major event cancelled by weather.  What are we going to do with all the boats that decorated?

I didn't realize that the Coast Guard had to OK having the parade.  One could just have several decorated boats go out for an evening cruise.

Just a quick note that these will be coming by email. Be on the look out for your renewal and ability to pay via paypal.

Thanks GBCA for the use of the forum to communicate this to the fleet.

Cheers,

Jay Zittrer

Paid on line, but downloaded certificate is for 2015.  Will I get a 2016 by mail (snail or e)?
