The instructions say you must fly a class flag, true. But if you go into the photo gallery and look you will see several boat not flying class flags at the start, or the first  mark but there it is at the finish. I am not apposed to someone going out for a cruise on the rum race course, but please declare your intentions to race vs I'll decide at the finish.

Good suggestion.  Forwarded to the HHIC.

Guess we don't see finish times again....

The GBCA nominating committee is taking names for candidates for all board positions!  Contact Chris Dees to submit your candidates.

Looks like a last minute issue.  I counted 20 orange flags last week!  I'm still waiting for the finish times to be posted from last week.
You know how them inganeers are!

Hey Charles - that's a lot of rum drinking and very little cleanup  ;)

Caught again!

"Bump"

I will be moving to Galveston for Residency at UTMB on June 1st and am interested in crewing when I'm available.  intern year is going be time intensive but it would be nice to get on the water to regain my sanity.
I've sailed for ~25 years, inshore and off shore racing, offshore deliveries and campaigning my Cal 34 for the cup in the "slow boat" fleet one year.

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Rum Race Seminar
June 19, 2015, 10:51:23 AM
Rum Racers:

GBCA is hosting a "How to Race" seminar Saturday, June 20th.  We have advertised that we will try to place new racers on boats and possibly place experienced racer volunteers on boats with new skippers.
If you can take one or two new sailors on your boat or have a experienced crew who can jump on with a new skipper,
contact me before noon Saturday.

What time is the BASIC SAILBOAT RACING SEMINAR this Saturday?  The page has two time different start times 9:30 and 10:30.

http://www.gbca.org/event-1955995

Thank you

It's at 9:30.

Sailflow predictions for this Saturday:

3pm     7kts     88*
4pm     9kts     88*
5pm     9kts     88*
6pm     9kts     87*
7pm     9kts     87*

Doesn't look like the earlier start time is going to make any difference.

On the other side of the coin, we could start at 7pm, finish in the dark, and skip the parties.
Just sayin'.

Is there a mistake in the marks for this course?  In particular for Sabine Jetty Channel marker 27?
Had to have been a finger slip.

Correct coordinates for Sabine Jetty Channel #27 are:

29? 41.340 N    093? 50.317 W
