Well, I guess we have a quorum for a PHRF Spin class, but just barely!
Sign up for the GBCA Spring early and often. Sailing is more fun with friends...and your crew that put up with you on the Conundrum will thank you!

There is a very strong rumor that there will be a J105 class with at least 3 boats and maybe 4.
Come on guys, don't let the RC and GBCA sweat this. Get in gear and sign up. Surely we can field more then 5 total boats.
Don't make Hamburgler race all by herself. She will be very unhappy. Sea Tails?, Pole Dancer?, Surprise, Surprise, Surprise?, Harm's In the Way? French Fries? Where are you folks?
Wish we had a boat to enter! :(
Zippity is entered, need some more J 105's please !
:)
Ok, I know I have bionic eyes. I know I am an old phart, and I know I am supposed to read the darn NOR, but I completely missed the fact that this is a one-day regatta.
What's up with that Doc?
Trying to encourage participation......
My crew explained the reasoning to me, but I'm still upset at myself for not being able to read. Its on the front page after all.
Its the bionic eyes. Yeah, that's it. I miss (actually I do not) miss my glasses.
I try harder next time.
We have 4 J105's and 2 J109's signed up. Surely we can get one more J109 to show up. Como No?
Leading Edge needs some help with PHRF. Where have all the PHRFers gone, long time racing, where ...
Can you tell that I like J-Boats?
The 109's made a class, too. Should be fun! Sailflow says 11kn from the south and low 70's on Saturday. That's when you get the drinks with the little umbrellas out! Perfect!!
Now Johnny Jones needs a bit of help from the non-spinners.
Johnny Jones as always needed a bit of help...
Thank God for Linda!!!
That, of course, goes without saying.
But, or is that butt, where are the traditional non-spin boats. For that matter why only 15 entries?
Thanks God for the Club Handicappers.
We are not handicapped. We have special needs!
Really? I didn't know that.
You do now oh King Of Smite!
Club Handicap aka. Club Orange
8)
Hire the handicapped - we're fun to watch!! 8)
That's King of Sting.
Oh, but yes, those gigantic handicapped things are indeed fun to watch. What's even better is that they show up, handicapped and all.
Ya'll need to change the subject real quick. Move on to a different topic.

Are you feeling sensitive about handicaps for some reason this week Brian?
In my opinion, the Club Handicap Class is one of the greatest things to come along in a very long time. These guys come out and race just like the rest of us and add a completely new perspective to the racing scene. If they haven't already, like the level 70's of yore, they should come up with a set of class rules and race in every regatta they have enough boats to form a class. Box's chicken along with his super computer can certainly be a part of those rules.
I applaud their desire and effort and enjoy seeing them out on the water. They are all great gentlemen competitors.
Where are the rest of the Vipers?? Are you guys going to make Duck and Dive start with the big J's all on their own?
This is shaping up to be a really good one. 3 J109, 4 J105, a pair of 1D35...strong PHRF non-spin fleet
The line up so far... (http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_registrant_list.php?regatta_id=3781&custom_report_id=2)
There are going to be some classic battles on Galveston Bay!
PLUS Club Orange is in the house.
The Chicken will be most pleased....
PS: If you have a spare Viper (or J111) laying around, waiting to be sailed... I'm available to helm :o
I agree! It's going to be a lot of fun! And I have been invited to sail on the great SV "Hamburg!". My skipper tells me we are going to win the entire regatta, every class! and win the party! the Germans are coming! The Germans are coming!
If only the rest of the J/109's not racing understood what a spectacular show they are going to miss! There the gauntlet has been thrown! and I will drink no more coffee the rest of the day!
(BTW-Before I get thrown off, my skipper didn't say those things-he's too classy!)
Cool trophies. That's all I'm sayin'. ;)
I bet they have removable tops or corks?
You dont want to make that challenge at a GBCA regatta Mr. J-boat. I promise, your not up to the challenge.

I'm not sure how many you're going to get out for the spring regatta Mary. I know we're going to have a great fleet at the women's regatta - Animal is already signed up.
Spring is going to be pretty busy for the fleet. The third weekend in April we are racing at Lakefest. It's a 3-day event but the vipers and melges 24's have agreed to make Friday a stand-along regatta and combine our fleets for a good old' PHRF sport-boat grudge match (good spirited of course). Two weeks later, 20 miles away is our second circuit stop (DCYC Leukemia Cup).
On a good note - a container with four new Galveston Bay vipers will arrive on the 8th. Paul Young is flying in himself to help get them sorted and to their new owners. That's the weekend of the womens' regatta.. so it might add a few more entries.
An interesting fact.... last September there were ZERO class legal viper 640's on Galveston Bay. When this container hits there will be 10... and two more boat's have already been ordered for Houston. So from Sept of 2010 to May of this year - 0 to 14 ACTIVE boat's.
By the way.. i told that Robbins guy he's not suppose to be finishing in front of me yet. What a hard-head!
Crazy

Ok Junior-go run along and play with your dinghy now.
Be nice, or I'll have Terry revoke your Internet privileges again ;-)

I do not think Elissa or the Spring Regatta will see many Vipers. I suggest we look at the Women's Regatta to see who can party and what is the hot fleet. Animal will be there as will Catapult (another ssort of animal if you see her spinnaker). I am sure we will see at least 4 or 5 Vipers on the line. Let's throw down the challenge for this one!
And Jeff - Carrie should get ready to "follow the cow".
Go GBCA!
Brad
Catapult #134
Well brad, already got a message from one very excited Jody this morning. Let the games begin.... Just wear your life jacket (kidding, sorta Jody)
Awww Viper smack, me likey alotie... :-*
I hear that your viper has already been claimed by an outstanding female sailor from the GBCA for that event.

Was originally a bit upset about the one-day nature of this regatta, but have to admit it worked out really well Not sure I like doing 5 races in one day, but except for the fact that Stinger had ONLY TWO BEERS left when she reached the dock we all had a great time. As usual, the party was great.
Thanks to all the GBCA volunteers who made this such a great event.
LOL at Bee - I was actually thinking the other day (yeah, I know, I've been warned about doing that!) that we need a "Beer Handicapping System" where every boat has to start the race with a predetermined "beer to crew-member ratio" and any leftover beer would result in a "one second per mile per beer" penalty.
The issue for us is not having any beer. If we ever finished the last race with no beer (Hmmmmmmmmmm Beer) my crew would mutiny. This was just absolutely too close for comfort.
But I do like the beer-handicapping idea.
