That one seems to be malffunntionning awreadi, Bee.

Y'all mean I get to race against a motor boat?? That should be fun! I guess we should all re-read the rules of the road......maybe my RIB will have the right-of-way because it's operating in the channel...

ok, I bite: I just enter a high time and lollygag around the finish mark until time's up. Or is this a race, also?

The 109's made a class, too. Should be fun! Sailflow says 11kn from the south and low 70's on Saturday. That's when you get the drinks with the little umbrellas out! Perfect!!

Well, I guess we have a quorum for a PHRF Spin class, but just barely!

Galveston Bay Area Racing / GBCA Spring Regatta

Just picked up the NOR for this regatta. Why are we running this regatta north of the Bayport channel? Won't most boats come from the Seabrook area? I'd also wouldn't mind for the one day regattas to start a bit earlier to get enough races in (but not if most of us have to motor to the starting line for an hour or more).

jus' my 2 pfennigs...

We saw 31kn max. Of course, when the boat heels 'significantly', the readings aren't that reliable. It sure felt like more than 31......

Special thanks! to the race committee and everybody on board the various support boats! It sure didn't look like picnic time on those boats, either.

We saw several loops of what looked like a huge cable over in Trinity Bay. Did anybody else see them and does anywone know what that was??

Something's still fishy in the standings for the PHRF Spin class. Looks like all the folks that placed in the third race got one point towards their total except the Bee. Did the Stinger do the scoring.......?

While you're at it, Kevin: Shouldn't events like the HYC J/22 Heritage Cup, LYC Daysailor Nationals and LYC J/Fest be listed on the regatta side of the schedule?

no way, Bee! Brad wants some nice furniture! I raise you 4 and offer J/109! I've heard there's a good one for sale right here in good ol' Galveston Bay!

Larchmont NOOD just finished with 75 or so boats participating. I wonder if they cancel that one, too, now.......

I'm liking the J-145 racing against a Weta. That's a single handed trimaran! Should be a close match.........

Don't forget to come down to LYC for the Test Drive Day on this Saturday starting at 10:00am! You saw the Viper 640's putting on a show last weekend. Come out and drive one yourself!! On the other end, the J-145 will be taking folks out in the bay. If you're more interested in J-80's, 105's, 109's or 122's, they will all also be there to take folks out.  Then we have the Weta tri and the Hobie Adventure to mess around on the lake. Check it out!!

I would certainly expect the event to last into the afternoon. The event in Austin was pretty much all day. The Test Drive Day is meant for people like you, Lacey, as well as for racers of all stripes. Please come down. We'll get you on a good boat, and you'll get the opportunity for some hands on work, too!

I don't think so, Scott. We'll have an anouncement on the 'banner' at the club entrance, and will put up posters at West Marine etc.
