I just want to give a shout out to Stinger's Woman at the Helm Judith Chang.  This wasn't only her first regatta at the helm, it was literally the first time she'd been on a yacht during a race.  I can't say that I'm surprised that we didn't place since we've got so many damn good local women sailors but I'm proud to have been part of Judith's first regatta.  My first regatta at the helm didn't go as well and I'd been sailing for years...

Ya'll need to change the subject real quick.  Move on to a different topic.

Are you feeling sensitive about handicaps for some reason this week Brian?

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: RACE TO THE BORDER
March 09, 2011, 01:56:40 AM
Xavier and the rest of the Race to the Border team have lined up great food and drink for the party this Saturday and the National Weather Service is calling for "HIGHS IN THE LOWER 70S" so things are shaping up for a not to be missed kick-off party.

Yup, the "Jr Member" etc under your forum handle has nothing to do with anything except the number of posts you've made on the forum.   I left it at the default setting when I installed the forum software and never gave it a second thought.

Allah'u Akabar!  It will be made correct, bismallah.

I'd like to thank the Race committee for their insight.  Stinger didn't have a prayer of winning the Commodore's Cup again this year.   ;D

Plain white bagels work wonders.  If you think you might get sick keep your stomach a little busy digesting something.

>I thought you were going to say "they taste just the same coming up as they do going down"  :D

I was serious, they do work.  Don't try them with lox offshore though.

It's a rabbit start so if luffing were allowed the faster boats would be at a disadvantage because all of the slower boats start ahead of them and would have the right to luff them up.  Mojo and company would have to risk being luffed up by practically every boat in the fleet, while the first boat to start would likely never have to worry about it.

The rule is an attempt at fairness.  Besides, it's a rum race.  You'll get to enjoy some of the trophy regardless of where you place.   ;D

Uhm, Stinger needs to test her adjustments for TRW.  If you've got a race or two she could do that in that would be great.

I'm sorry Thomas, I was wrong.  You can't modify your own posts.  When the GBCA Board was finalizing details for setting up the forum they and I decided that allowing people to modify their posts would lead to people trolling the forum with abusive posts and then deleting their comments.  Of course, that would make a fool of anyone who replied to their abuse.

I'll go back and remove the f-bombs from the thread manually as Commodore Kelley has ordered.

Thanks guys.  I don't want to be stuck having to moderate this forum and this thread has turned back towards the positive so I assume I've dodged another bullet.

Does anyone have any objections to me leaving the posts as they are?

Thomas and Brian, I appreciate your posts.  I was up late last night and reacted to Brian's post and the three F bombs in Thomas' post and the general direction the thread seemed to be taking.  If El Diablo doesn't have a problem with you m********rs then I don't either.

Thomas, if you want to edit your post you should be able to do that by clicking on the link on the post.  If you don't want to edit it, don't.  It's really not that big of a deal.
