The latest divisions of fleets seems odd and not fair.  The cruising spin fleet has the faster boats not competing against each other but spread out to compete against LYC boats that have handicaps virtually guarantying them adjusted time wins.
Division A,B and D have six boats each.  Division C only has four boats and the most dramatic handicap spread i.e. sixty-nine seconds per mile, handicap for the LYC boat!

You originally grouped similarly rated boats together and that seemed most fair.  Otherwise this year?s race awards seem to have been won at past PHRF committee meetings and LYC race committee discussions.

We're kicking ass down here in Texas!  Membership in our local Dallas/Fort Worth chapter is now over 300 and new chapters in Lubbock and El Paso are also experiencing explosive growth.  Texans are actually beginning to feel re-legalization is within reach. Prosecutors are actually predicting change within the next 5-10 years. Recent polls now indicate Texans favoring cannabis legal reform are in the slight majority.  In addition to our conferences and seminars NORML has became a huge social organization.  The face of NORML has changed in appearance a great deal from Cheech & Chong types to more professionals, who are empowered to share their views to anyone that will listen. 

In the spring we plan to roll out a NORML wakeboard team and parasail crew.  These teams are forming now to compete nationally with the training, advice and counsel of Brian Sasser, a renowned wakeboard instructor, owner of a wake park and sales manager with Texas Mastercraft.  "Hydro" (our first boat rescued from a DEA asset forfeiture and donated by its owner was underpowered and largely unsuitable for these purposes) has been retired and replaced with a Mastercraft Prostar 205 competition ski-boat.  ("Hydro 2.0") It's powerful.  It's fast!  We have designed graphics very similar to those on the famous Hooters promotional boat.  Our custom made parasail is in and the FAA permitting process is underway.   We will be making these resources available to any chapter desiring to make their presence known at any sizable freshwater events in their area.  If you have anything in mind just contact us!

I have done the Regatta De Amegos since 2006. The last one was over the top with the Tall Ships in for the party. It was poorly attended in part due to IKE, the economy and gangsters (Time heals all). Now they have the Marina for us they have been talking about since I have been going. Can't wait to see it. Although I would like to see the race to Isla Mujeres resurrected, I think that one was replaced many years ago by Race to The Border in odd years. Isla is a long beat ( I have done it) but all the LYC suggested Florida and Gulf Coast alternatives are a beat with alot more rigs. Gulfport race did not come close to the fun, adventure, good sailing, romance and war stories of any race to Veracruz. GG

Reminds me of the LYC Gulfport race rules.

Is the award for the WASP class based on look-a-like or most WASPy or simply best derssed in the fashion of the genre? I am working on it.

Where are the sailing instructions that were due to be posted 7pm last night?

I left my instructions on the boat but was there not a 30 minute rule?  It did not seemthat any boats finnished w/in 30 minutes of Chiron on Sunday.

Jim,
Chiron (a Wauquiez Centurion 42, new in town) sailing non spin did finish Rum Race #4 at 7:45 pm.  No other non spin boats were there.  Due to lighting, and no boats undersail comming in behind us in view, we returned to the slip and weather kept us from the party.  My crew ask that I request that you include our dramatic finnish in relation to the other non spin finnisher(s).
