We've only been in GBCA for eight months.  Is it foolish to inquire where the Commodores Ball will be held?
I've never signed up for anything unless I knew what I was signing up for!

What time does the Commodores Ball start and is this a dinner thing or just trophy presentation.  Is it semi formal, black tie, etc. etc. Thanks!

Glad you asked Eric.  The Commodore's Ball will be from 6:00PM--11:00PM.  The attire will be semi-formal.  Most men will be wearing suits, or slacks with suit jackets and ties.  Some will even wear tuxes.  Most women will be wearing dresses or pant suits.  We try to get everyone away from "racing attire".
The event will include happy hour, dinner, awards and dancing.  It's ALWAYS a good time!!!
Hope to see you there

Kathlyn

Darn Kathlyn.  I was going to show up in Lederhosen with my Tyrolean Hat, socks, suspenders, and a stein.  Now I'm not sure I should come.

OOPS, Just tried on the Lederhosen.  Something tends to flop over the top of the waist band.  I seem to remember that these things fit.  I'll have to reconsider.

A reminder once again.  February 27th is the Commodore's Ball.  You do not have to be a member to attend.  We have extended the deadline to February 12th for the $50.00 fee.  For those of you who may think this is a typical GBCA after race social gathering...it is not!  This is a semi-formal event with a catered meal, full bar (ok, basically a full bar) and live entertainment by Robert Frith.  We will also be handing out the awards for the 2009 Rum Race Series, 2010 Icicle Series and 2009 Perpetual Awards.  Please sign up early as it does help out with the head count for catering and bar.

Thanks,
Kathlyn

Bump - OK folks, getting ready to do the shopping for the libations and need a head count! This is even more important to those coordinating the catering.  If you plan on attending and have not already done so, please sign up using regatta network so we can get an accurate head count!  A big thanks to those of you that have already signed up!!! :)

I want to first thank everyone from the Frostbite Regatta who purchased tickets for the Roger Stone Perpetual Trophy Quilt Raffle Fundraiser.   ;D

Just as a reminder, the quilt will be raffled at the Commodore's Ball during the program phase of the event.  We still need to raise some more funds, so please come by my raffle table and purchase your raffle tickets.  They are $20/each or six for $100.  Remember, we only take CASH or CHECKS, so no credit cards please.  Everything else is free that night, so why not buy a raffle ticket, or two, or three, or heck why not SIX!

We will make announcements during the event to make sure you don't miss the opportunity to buy your ticket before the quilt is raffled to the lucky winner.  Remember, this is for a good cause and you have the chance to win a GBCA one of kind hand-made quilt, a TLC Original.  It even has a pocket!  You'll have to come by the raffle table and check it out!

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Commodore's Ball and best wishes to the lucky winner of this quilt!

;D ;D ;D  Yes, I'm smiling!  I think it is so awesome when GBCA members pull together as a family to show support of others in our sailing community.  It is going to feel wonderful to report at the next Regata de Amigos Race Committee meeting that GBCA members came together to raise $2,240.00 towards the creation and design of the Roger W. Stone Memorial Perpetual Trophy!  We did it gang!!  The Quilt Raffle was a success and many thanks go out to all of you who took the chance in winning the great GBCA Logo Picture Quilt.  The WINNER was, of course, our own GBCA Treasurer, Chris Alk.  He now has his own GBCA snuggle blanky!  :D  Of course I hear that it may end up as a hanging tapestry in his home.

Again, I want to thank everyone for helping in this fundraiser by buying raffle tickets, and I also want to thank my niece, Tammy L. Camaret (TLC Original) for taking the time to design and make the quilt for this purpose.

KUDO's TO GBCA!!

If you missed the ball last week, you missed a darn good time!

Announced at the ball:
2009 GBCA Crewman of the Year: Casey Lambert
2009 GBCA Sportsman of the Year: Jim Powers
2009 GBCA Yachtsman of the Year: Al Goethe
As voted by their fellow peers. A huge honor.

SO MANY PEOPLE TO THANK!
A special thanks to Kathyln Bez and her setup team for putting it all together.
The Communty Center transformed into something remarkable. I believe Kathyln did the hundreds of pictures, the GBCA picture collage, the creative table settings, among a thousand other things too numerous to mention. Simply amazing.
Also a thanks to all those that stuck around after 11pm to help clean-up and pack all the silver.
We made it to the Classic to continue the party in record time.
Awesome volunteers at GBCA is what makes it all happen!

I hope everyone had a fun time.
Best of all, we raised a good bit of money for the Roger Stone Perpetual (see prior post from KathyR). Awesome idea Kathy!

Lastly, we have plenty of pictures and spirits left over for next weeks Conundrum....
;D
