You coherently outlined why you think "your" approach is better and I appreciate it...now put it to a vote.  At the moment the only mechanism to vote is to register for a race or not, and the numbers don't lie.

I sense your frustration and understand your point of view, however, in my opinion, we elected the board of governors and officers to manage these events and decisions on our behalf. To think every decision (including revisions to the SIs) would require a majority vote of the entire GBCA membership is not realistic.  That's what the board was elected to do; and that is the "vote" available to you... 

The SA/D class divisions in your post and in the SIs are reversed.  High performance boats have higher SA/D ratios than racer cruisers and the SIs imply boats with lower SA/D are in the racing spinnaker class...

As Bee so eloquently said, maybe the responsible parties at gbca should do more to manage the situation and handle it...  Makes me concerned about the security of the overall site (not just the forum) and our saved profile information. (i.e. credit card data)....

Is there anything new to report regarding m55 for this weekend's rum race?  What are the coordinates for the temp bouy?

I asked the same question; and TUMA and Mike Lewis confirmed the 1400hr start time.

Kevin, what was the weather like Saturday morning as you rounded M55, cause I was still in bed at that hour! 

There are many folks who do not use Facebook too.  I like the idea of receiving a text message from event organizers regarding race cancellation plans.  Then I'm not having to continually search FB or CLRA's website for updated information.

My cooler would have more room for beer if I started carrying water in it's own dispenser. It would occasionally be challenging to distribute water to crew between races on heavy air days while on a small boat, but I'm willing to give it a try.  That said, in addition to reducing our use of disposable water bottles, I think the clubs and marinas need to promote and provide the means to recycle trash at their facilities.  LYC, HYC, Kemah boardwalk, WATERGATE, SEABROOK Marina, etc, I talking to you!!   All I see at these facilities are overflowing trash cans filled mostly with recyclable plastic and aluminum!  There may be isolated bins at some locations, but recycling doesn't seem to be promoted during regattas, nor are there bins readily available near most of the docks.  Who here has suggested implementing recycling programs to your Marina/club in the past; and what is being done to promote recycling today?  I believe nothing will change until enough people demand it. 

I agree with all of Gary's points. Participation should count for something and I would be interested to see how the results would have been different had there been a low point scoring system in place.

That said, how can the fleet(s) effectively lobby the WNR race committee to change the scoring system in place?
