Where the heck did the Vipers come from?

Have you read your latest Sailing World.  The Vipers the cover story.  You can thank "Jonesy" for the Viper surge.  We're hoping more Smogtown sailors get snake-bitten and buy one.

Thank yourselves Phil .. i dont want the credit when you get a hall-pass to play and likewise, i dont want the blame when dont make a regatta because momma says' there's yardwork to be done.

From 2 active boats in the state at the beginning of 2009 to 12 @ present - the growth in the fleet is something that we're seeing all over the country.

I think we have 9 confirmed boats that will attend, 11 if the two new boats arrive in time.

Quick, cool news from the viper fleet @ the LYC shoe regatta

KATTACK will be outfitting each viper wtih a live tracking unit..  Pending approval of the RC, the race marks will also be tagged.

* Tracking will be available via the internet
* Races can (and hopefully will) be re-played at the bar
* KATTACK will be awarding Max Velocity dry shirts for the winn boat of the "Viper 640 speed challenge" (ma speed sustained for 30 seconds)
* An event webpage with live tracking links, post race links and performance reports will be available

An example of this stuff can be found here http://americanregatta.com/regattas/2010/ANOOD/  as they are currently tracking the J109 class this week at the annapolis NOOD.

Hey guys (and gals) - looks like the Shoe is going to have a great turn-out.   Several boats registered that i've not seen out in the bay (hobie 33, J145, M 36)

Vipers will be hanging around the crane area @ Lakewood on Friday afternoon.. if your around, stop by for a drink!  The car-bar might not be up to Tres Hombre's standards but it shall provide.

My thanks to the competitors for their patience during the weather situation on Saturday. Sunday morning also turned out to be a bit challenging, however it turned in to a fine day for racing.

Results can be found via the following link:

Nice job, RC on the B line with the rolling starts and keeping things moving with the start sequence for the J105s while taking finishes. We got three races in, no problem.

Great RC work Dwight..  Dual windward marks..  3 solid races and a nice steak dinner to boot!

The Kattack guys send me this info.   This is a crazy cool thing to watch.  Interesting to see how hot vipers sail down-wind..  it can actually be as, if not more tactical than up-hill.  Good stuff.

Jeff the website it http://americanregatta.com/regattas/2010/shoe_vipers/ all people have to do is create a user name and they can watch the races.

Drakes boat is mislabel as the Stig and it looks as if your unit might have turned off probably from banging during a tack, in the future I?ll look into a place where the boxes moves less than the port hole on the side.

Terry and I had a blast sailing down there, hope we can catch you at a few more viper events, maybe even let you beat us a race.
