Title: Travel hoist options in Seabrook and Kemah
Post by: svShearwater on August 03, 2014, 05:27:13 PM
What are my options for launching using a hoist in the area?  Would need to use the hoist to step the mast too.
Not necessarily dry-sailing, although that would be fine, but wondering about a place to get a boat off a trailer and in the water a few times a year.

Is there a hoist in Port A. Or CC?  Thinking Harvest Moon.

Don't think Port A has a crane/hoist.  The Hobie 33s, Melgi & Corsair Trimarans ramp launch/retrieve.  There is a boat hoist & mast crane in Corpus on the L-Head.  I think it was taken over by CCYC, don't know the capacity.    There is also a travelift at the CC Marina.

Thanks B K.  Anyone have info about Seabrook/Kemah?  I know Seabrook Shipyard has a hoist, but don't know if that is available to people without a dry sail storage contract.

Justin, You can probably make an arrangement with SSY to use the hoist. Talk to Linda.
