Quote from: Jeff K on January 23, 2024, 09:52:26 AMIs there any place to see the results?

Here is the series results URL link.  You'll have to copy/paste it onto new window.  Not sure why this new forum program can't link out to it.

2023 Rum Race Series results: click here

Series Results click here as recorded by the GBCA scoring genie.

Caveat - The scoring genie is not doing the tie breakers.  It's just a straight sort, top to bottom on the total score.

RRS
A8. SERIES TIES
A8.1.
If there is a series-score tie between two or more boats, each boat's race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favor of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.      (i.e. A with 2+4+3 for 9 wins over B with 3+3+3 for 9)
A8.2.
If a tie remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats' scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.      (i.e. The boat with a better score in the last race)

Guessing here, but I think the finish sheet may be reflecting their actual recorded start times instead of their official start time of 11:28:29 to ensure they were not OCS.

Thanks, I saw that they were  back on Regatta Network yesterday morning.   Still trying to figure out how two boats, with the same rating have different start times.

Can you post again, the Icicle/Fall series SI's so we can get our start time?  Sorry, can't seem to find the old one.

Thanks

In rum race #4, Banjo Girl and Shaken Not Stirred are scored DNF.  How does that happen?

Typically, because the finish time reported is after the race cut-off of 2100hrs.  Sometimes it's because the finish time gets reported in error or not at all - therefore blank and the program doesn't know what to do with blank.  Post your time here for the admin to correct.

The program is automated and nearly runs on it's own.  Dual entries occur when user/skipper accidentally mistype or enter different boat data (name, sail#, email, etc.) from prior entries.   Numerous boats have multiple entries.  Database admin is occasionally needed to correct/consolidate these dual entries into a single boat entry.

Typically, you should use the latest/most recent effective dated rating for the next race.

Pro-tip: You can help the system to prevent dual entries, by entering your email first; then allow the system to auto-populate the remainder of the information from what it has stored in it's database.  Then you only need to update the latest race information and not have to type into every field.
First time users - this won't work for you until you have a prior race entry in the system.
Boat strumpets - this may not work for you either if you are entering results for different boats each weekend.

Link to SI's from the front page of GBCA website seems to be broken.  Bubbling this post to the top as this link appears to still be working.

Friday night fireworks tonight, July 12th.  An extra bonus.
The finish should be interesting!   ;)  ???  :o  8)

The club has tried this in the past until RaceQs became unresponsive to the Regatta/Race/Course setup requests.  They used to take our SI's and build the courses with marks and start/finish lines.  Then they stopped responding to email/phone requests.  Maybe it was a phase and we need to try again.  Supposedly we can do our own mark settings withing the tool now.

Two problems I see with this:
- receiving (by the competitors) any real time or delayed view of the race as it occurs might be viewed as a violation of RRS 41c "information not available to all".  While it may be 'freely' available, a big boat might have a laptop and wifi, but a J22 won't.
- If you leave the 'Live Streaming' setting turned ON for the live feed to occur, you may not have enough battery left on your mobile after the race or even to complete the race if it's long enough.  The app and mobiles' gps are battery hogs.  :o  I've always turned my Live Streaming to Off and just remember to upload after the race is over.

I get where your going for friends and family information and I concur.  But, wouldn't it be more fun to take them out with you than to leave them on shore?   8)
Best left for the après-race viewing.

My 2 cents...
