General Discussion / Thanks for the trophy, Stephen
March 28, 2012, 07:11:44 PM
I was sitting in my office at work today and the mailroom comes to deliver a package. I open it and discover a duplicate copy of the engraved Harvest Moon Regatta trophy with a handwritten note advising that this was my copy of the 1st place trophy with hopes that I?d enjoy it. The captain of the boat I had crewed on for the race had sent me a duplicate copy of the trophy he had been given at the awards ceremony. Thank you so much for thinking of me Stephen. Wow, what a classy thing to do. That is so cool.

General Discussion / Re: Past GBCA Commodore research

(I had to correct Bud's name in the previous post)

An excerpt from the book ?Love at First Sight: A lifetime of Sailing on Galveston Bay? by Howard J. Williams  Amazon.com - $22.95

?During the spring of 1962, Don Gentitempo talked of purchasing a larger version of the Triton, an Alberg 35 designed by Carl Alberg. He spoke in glowing terms about the sailing characteristics and appearance of the boat. If Gentitempo, one of the best sailors on Galveston Bay thought it was such a great boat, I wanted to know more. Bud Smith, the organizer of the Galveston Bay Cruising Organization and a column writer for Yachting Magazine was the dealer in the area for Pearson Yachts.?

Chris,
The 1959 Commodore is Don Genitempo. You've misspelled the last name.

I'm looking for someone with experience to take my place tonight. I cannot get off work, and I don't want to leave the person I trim for hanging. This is a two-man Star, non spin. Let me know...

Nice video of a catamaran pitch poling on The Daily Sail. What a way to make a living.

This is a good read, in case anyone is interested. Non fiction sailing.

"In 1993 Five men set off on a 86 foot long catamaran in an attempt to circumnavigate the world non stop in less than 80 days.  Another Catamaran and a Trimaran had left before them, only one came back successfully."

General Discussion / Re: my membership is not correct?

No, I've never rally paid any attention to that and didn't really notice it said that there. I had seen it on my profile page so maybe it doesn't mean anything there either. Like I said, it really hasn't affected me that I know of so I don't know that it matters. I meant to add a question mark after the heading but I don't see it

General Discussion / my membership is not correct
February 12, 2011, 05:17:25 AM
When I joined the GBCA, I was listed with a junior membership. If I paid 130, does that mean it should be a senior membership? Just thought I'd throw out the thread. Not that I think it matters. I've been treated pretty dang good regardless of the membership level. Cheers...
