Galveston Bay Area Racing / 2017 Informal Bay Racing
April 27, 2017, 08:43:30 AM
Some skippers were talking about it after the WNR last night.  I am taking the liberty of posting it here.   Here's a rehash of what Gary organized last year:
Course is Icicle standard ( Start->H->E->Finish)
Start time: your Icicle Race  start time + 6 hours - most boats start between 5:45 pm and 6:15 pm

Icicle SIs are still on the GBCA page (thanks Darin!):

These pictures look a little foggy. Was you lens fogged up?

:) Sorry, great shots.

Great shots. Thanks!

I took about a dozen pics before I realized the camera was complaining there was no SD card. D'oh!

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Autopilot?
September 16, 2016, 12:02:23 PM
As a still noobi boat owner I have a question to the sailing community:  How much do you use your autopilot?

My boat came with one and it worked ok for a while. It no longer works and I removed it because it failed in a way that caused the wheel to bind.  I liked it on the occasions that  I used it. The wheel lock seems to work nearly as well. Seems most of my sailing has been racing where I can't use it if it did work.  I am trying to decide if fixing it should be on my long list of repairs.

Thanks

Renaissance is in.

Still a tad short handed.

General Discussion / Re: RaceQ

Is there any way to export the static track,  i.e. what you see in FB before you click it?   I'd like to see a large 2D image of my track.

Renaissance will be there.

General Discussion / Dirty Fuel Tank
February 25, 2016, 03:31:45 PM
Renaissance (Catalina 30) has been plagued by fuel contamination - plugged filters, plugged pickup tubes, etc. I have had the tank cleaned/polished by Diesel Fuel Maintenance. Everything I have done has has fixed the problem at the time, only to have the problem move and the engine lose power or stall.

I can drain and remove the tank from the boat pretty easily. At least access to it is easy. Any suggestions on how to get the tank REALLY clean?
