From USCG Galveston:

Last evening (5/26/2013), the crew of 25809 responded to a boat collision off Seawolf Park, they transferred a man who had been thrown into the water when a Catamaran power driven vessel collided with a S/V. The man and woman were transported to UTMB with injuries, and the Catamaran Hull left the scene without stopping to aid the occupants of the S/V. If you are in the local area and see a white catamaran (power driven) vessel with heavy bow damage, please call 409-766-5633. Very sad that this boater failed to follow the navigation rules of the road and worse yet, fled the scene.

Sad news. Ed was a great guy, long time sailor, and supporter of GBCA

General Discussion / City of Seabrook to remove pilings
February 14, 2013, 07:26:10 AM
This is interesting. I asked for a map from the City of Seabrook to see how far out they'll remove pilings and (hopefully) be encouraged to remove other obstructions...
The only details I could find are here:

Galveston Bay Area Racing / 2013 Key West Race Week
January 19, 2013, 07:47:16 AM
A few locals (and GBCA members) headed that way...

http://www.yachtscoring.com/current_event_entries.cfm?order=origin

Revolution (1d35), Al Poindexter (J70), Black River Racing (J70), Rebecca (J120)

Our Dallas friends on Vitesse and Hoss (Swan 42), Bruno Pasquenelli (J70)
Austin friends too...

127 boats total, with 26 boats internationally registered...
I would call Key West one on North Americas premier regattas.
(Funny how a certain sailing website won't even recognize its existence)

Good luck GBCA, Houston (and Texas) teams!

Got our 2013 GBCA wall calendars today.
They look great!
I like the fact that each picture is local sailors/boat in action
Thanks to the sponsors, photographers, Andrew Lee and Scott Lacy for putting it together.
I know from experience it takes some work to get it completed!
