I added the new oyster reefs to the GBCA Obstruction Map:  https://gbca.org/ObstructionMap.

On Sunday, we saw two large mooring buoys about 1.25 nm ESE of the H-mark.  Nothing was tied up, but it seems likely these are related to oyster reefs.

How about posting a few bullets on the steps to take to get an Rum Race ORC rating?

We saw that, too.  The chart info shows it as "Texas A&M Lighted Oceanographic Buoy GB1" and also shows a new "GB2" farther south across the ship channel:

An exposed pipe was reported at this location back in February.  The location and a photograph are posted on the GBCA Obstruction Map:  https://gbca.org/ObstructionMap

I added this to the GBCA Galveston Bay Obstruction Map:  https://gbca.org/ObstructionMap .  Take a look at the location and send me an PM if it needs to be adjusted.

Someone can't just move the mark!!  The starting times are based on the distance, moving the mark will obviously change the distance.

We could try using the Sailing Instructions on how to deal with a missing mark.

Where is the link to see the results of rum Race #1???

Use the dropdown menu on the homepage,  select Cruising Class, click on Report Finish Time, and select the race. Easy, right?  Here's the link:   http://results.gbca.org/

Scott,

Are you sure you went around the right mark?  Here is a photo of M55 from Tuesday afternoon (before the storms).

The Offshore Regatta is this weekend!  Only three boats have signed up.  We need more boats.  We also need details on the party so that we can pick a place to dock.

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: things that go bump

I have updated the GBCA Obstructions map to show this bump.  There are three recent bumps and I have marked these with exclamation points.  I also updated the map to show the Rum and Icicle courses.

You can see the whole track on the Raceqs web site.  You can also export it as a data file and draw your own chart.
