I'm wondering if the TGIF series ever got any traction.  I may take the old girl out Friday.

Cheers,

Un-Classified Ads / Possible MainSail for someone?
January 28, 2016, 06:03:37 PM
I have a virtually new mainsail that was used on Banjo Girl for a brief period.  ...The time on it can probably be measured in hours.

It is a North Sail.  Dacron...can't remember weight but maybe 7.3 or something close less than 8 oz anyway.  dimensions are  "E" Foot  15'8"  and "P" Main Hoist  38'10.5.  It currently is set up for Tides Strong Track and loose foot.  It had tapered battens but I need to find them. ...thinking it had  5 battens two full and three half.

It's been sitting in my airconditioned closet for a few years.

If the measurements seem like something that would work for you reach out to me via email:  JZittrer@gmail.com

Negotiable on price but thinking around $1500.00 or best offer.

Un-Classified Ads / Westerbeke 4-107 engines
January 26, 2016, 09:42:59 AM
If anyone out there has an interest in a Westerbeke 4-107 to either repower or scavange parts from let me know. I have two of them.  I recently repowered Banjo Girl and the engine that came out ran and for the most part never let me down.  It leaked oil and was old so I opted for a new engine.

I also have a spare that i purcchased years ago that was a running engine when I needed some parts (heat exchanger).

I could probably arrange for the recent take out to be test run.

First reasonable offer gets them

Anyone know the source of this fish kill here in Seabrook?  Lots of bait fish floating.

Hey guys,

There will be a bunch of youth sailors on the bay tomorrow for the start of Texas Youth Race Week.  There is the possibilty they will still be on the water when the rum races get started.  This is a big regatta for the little guys (qualifier for team trials) so please be mindful and give them some room and respect on the water.

Hope to see y'all on the water tomorrow.

Anyone know of a campground nearby the Canyon Lake Yacht Club?  ...maybe some of y'all that have done the wurstfest?

I'm heading up with my opti sailor and thinking of camping in the pop up rather than getting a hotel.

Thanks,

General Discussion / Outboard repair recommendation
October 28, 2011, 02:11:46 PM
Hi all,

I've got a couple small outboard that need repair.  ...pretty simple stuff I think one needs a new float and the other some ignition work and maybe a carb rebuild.

Anyone care to recommend a shop?
Thanks,

I was talking with a friend of mine in the LYC bar a couple days ago.  ...happens to be a Southern Yacht Club member that came to Houston Post Katrina.

We were discussing deep water racing around here and the topic of Veracruz and Race to the Border came up.  With all the issues we have on the border and into Mexico as well as the difficulty in getting insurance for some to make the Veracruz race,  why not look at some other destinations?

What about looking at Biloxi again or Grand Isle or even making way to Pensacola?   I've never done the Biloxi race but I have sailed across that part of the Gulf.  Sure there are lots of Rigs and such but we've got that here to.  ...most of us are used to this.

Biloxi or Grand Isle might be kind of fun with the Casinos and such but really if you get a good enough group of boats anywhere would be suitable.  ...could even harbor up in Venice Louisiana and have a good time.

Anyone care to weigh in?

General Discussion / Seatow or Towboat U.S.?
September 27, 2010, 08:17:49 PM
Hey folks,

I try to be self sufficient and have only been truly rescued once by a towing service.  However, I own a very old boat that has been going through a bit of a refit but not Everything has been addressed.  Therefore, I am thinking of picking up a towing service.

Which is best in and around Galveston Bay?  What about up and down the TX Coast.  I had a Seatow Membership that just expired but that was what was best when I had the both berthed elsewhere.

Anyone care to weigh in?

Thanks,

anyone here know where I could rent a small runabout or dinghy of some sort for the weekend?
My son is racing in the Palacious youth race week this weekend and I'd like to be on the water spectating.

I think I've been to the turtle club like five times in my entire life but I went there last night and was pleasantly surprised.

I spent the late afternoon/evening working on Banjo Girl and when I was packing up I heard the party going on over at the Turtle Club so a buddy of mine and I wandered over there for a beer.

They had $6.00 steak (rib-eye or tenderloin) potato and a salad for $6.00!  It is a cook your own thing but they've got enough grills around the place that it is not problem.   -pretty smokin deal.

I am pretty disgusted that TX A&M admits no responsibility(still) to the tragedy that claimed life of one of our brethren.

I'm looking for a company to replate a pair of Lewmar 54St winches.  The drums are kind of getting worn looking.  Also, what can be done to keep the grippy part of the drum from getting to slick after plating?

Anyone have an idea on this?

Kevin Hayes - you out there?

I think it would be nice to have a dedicated buy/sell forum on the site.
