I'd also like to see a PHRF Spin class. I would even like to see a return of the racer/cruiser classification.

Crew Finder / 2022 crew opportunity
January 06, 2022, 07:57:56 PM
I'm in need of crew for this year starting with the Icicle Races in January. I'm looking for good team players who want to have fun on the water and are willing to pitch in, learn (and/or teach) and work to make the boat move well.
I sail Leopard, a 34' S2 10.3. Nominal crew of 6-7. Symmetrical Spinnaker. I have 3-4 regulars, but am always looking for more, since not everyone can make all the races.

I have not heard or seen any words on when/if we can pick up liquid trophies. Where on the web site is that being posted?

I don't know how well this is getting out to people not on the list of past HMR skippers, so I thought I'd share it here to help it get disseminated.
This is a 1 question poll, but has a lot of information on the changes the HMR committee is having to make due to the pandemic. It's worth reading to gauge if you want to participate in the event this year. Let them know your interest in the options they present.

Greetings, Galveston Bay Racers!
Registration for the KO Musto Shoe Regatta is open! Musto sailing shoes will again be awarded to the skipper and crew of the first place boats, as is our tradition.

There's a few exciting changes I hope you'll all like:

1. This year we are going to do away with the "Poleless Spinnaker" fleet (since it hasn't made in the last several regattas) We're instead offering a PHRF Distance Racer/Cruiser Spinnaker fleet. If you have a valid PHRF certificate and you qualify as a "racer/cruiser" according to PHRF-GB's guidelines (http://www.phrfgb.com/racer-cruiser-definitions) you can enter this fleet.

2. All PHRF races will be scored using the Time-On-Time Method. The formula for the Time Correction Factor will be published in the Sailing Instructions. To learn about Time on Time scoring , use your favorite search engine. There are several articles out there.

3. We will offer a W/L course for ORC handicap. You must have a valid ORC club or international rating. Handicapping will be done using the Triple number Windward/Leeward Time-on-Time method.

We're looking forward to running a great regatta for you. Here's the web addresses of interest:

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: Spinnaker A Kite Bow

Has anyone thought of using the "Race/Cruiser" definition on the PHRFGB website? That along with other rules like only allowing dacron sails or whatever might fit the bill.

For my part, I'd like to sail in such a fleet, if I can use my symmetrical spinnaker.
