Looks like an interesting course.  Will it be a beat, two reaching legs, another beat and a run home?

Hold on, Kelly McGuire from TopGun is going to be at Redfish!?!?  Best Fleet Captain ever!

I'm looking for some experienced offshore crew, but I won't be too picky.  We are sailing PHRF Spin, all positions available, even mine.  :)
Boat is in the Yacht Basin already.

A procedure to consider is hailing for "ROOM TO TACK AT AN OBSTRUCTION" (RRS 20).

I did this a couple years ago.  The skipper next to me wasn't happy in the moment, he thought I had more room than I did.  If it had been a reef I don't think he would have minded.

The way we were sailing he had to tack out so I could tack.  We talked it out later and his final (legitmate) complaint is I should have tacked immediately upon his tack.  He was right, it took us a bit longer to tack than it should have.  I made it up to him later by sailing below him when we went by.

I just signed up for 5 additional passes for our rotating crew.  I used some placeholder names, hopefully we can sort that out at the skippers meeting.

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: RUM RACE PARTIES!

Hi Kevin-
We'd be interested in doing this for a race.  I'm curious how this is handled and I'm sure others are too.

Do we not race that week?  Or hope to heck that we get back to the clubhouse at a decent time?  Honestly I've never paid attention to when the food is set up, but it seems like it is already there when we get back.

Thanks-
Chris

Anybody planning on sailing shorthanded for the Rum Races?  I know we can count on Selah, who else?

Okay, so nice long legs and not .75 mile wear out the crew type racing.
Thanks for the clarification!

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Texas Race Week

Looking for some clarification on the race format.  NOR states there will be a W/L race and a distance race with a third day of either format.  Just trying to get a feel for how that will be decided.  Also, are you intending for all fleets to run W/L?
Thanks-

Is there any interest in forming a fleet of doublehanders for the HYC Offshore?

We are interested in doing this as a PHRF spinnaker fleet.

I'm looking at you Concussion...  Any others?

Okay, I'll bite:  I like it.  I like seeing who came in ahead of me and by how much.  It sounds like this is the first of a few iterations, which is normal for any new system.  I probably spent 3 minutes trying to figure out when I went across the line and recording that time on the website.  There was still rum.

Pretty sure SolAire will make it!

Anybody know if we will be docking at the Yacht Basin on Saturday evening for the party?  Just trying to get some logistics worked out.

It's official, I have an ORC Club Certificate.  I guess it is me against Bee now.

I could be convinced.  Most likely be doublehanded.
