Un-Classified Ads / Charitable Donations - Sailboa...
Last post by JASpithill - April 24, 2023, 12:27:44 PM
Does anyone have any recent experience donating their sailboat to a charitable organization, preferably one that would use the boat as opposed to just reselling it. Thanks

Un-Classified Ads / Looking to Rent/Borrow Bolt-on...

Does anyone have a bolt-on bowsprit that they'd be willing to rent (or loan?) through the month of June? I'm on a team doing the Race to Alaska this summer on an Olson 30 and we're looking to add a few weapons to the arsenal.

Galveston Bay Area Racing / ORC Measurer is coming to town...
Last post by dc1sail - March 12, 2023, 01:57:17 PM
Dobbs Davis, the chief measurer for ORC in the United States is coming down later this month to measure boats. Exact day(s) to be determined.

Tom Sutton (J-35 Leading Edge)and I (J-109 Airborne) are signed up and we hope to get more boats to split Dobbs travel costs among all who sign up.

The purpose of measurement is to get an international ORC certificate instead of a club certificate.  An international ORC certificate is only needed for international events or if you want your ORC certificate to reflect the exact weight of your boat. The club certificate is fine for Galveston Bay racing.

The measurement cost is $20 per ft.

Contact me at dc1sail@comcast.net if you want your boat measured.

Wednesday Night Racing / Re: WNR NOR

After looking at an overlay of the new oyster reef being built off Bay Cliff/San Leon, the coordinates for GBCA marker "J" is just in it, on the southern edge. Maybe it can be moved into Clear Lake for the summer and used as mark "L".  And we go back to day mark 8 for the summer Rum Races, until construction is finished and we know a safe place for "J". Just a thought.

Yes, we are working on finalizing the NOR so 2022 is a placeholder. All other pieces (Fees and dates) are correct. The correct NOR will be released shortly.

WNR appears to be under the "Series Racing" tab on Regatta Network. Here's the link.

Note that the NOR posted is for the 2022 series.
