The Leukemia Cup supporting the Leukemia and Lymphomia Society will be held June 25-26, 2016.

The One-Design Line will include all boats wishing to race a windward/leeward format around movable buoys. Depending on the number of entrants, will dictate if we separate this into two lines.

The classic Pursuit Line will include racing and cruising boats that wish to add a little bit of distance racing to their game. The Pursuit courses will range from 8-15 nm in Galveston Bay.  The Distance Non-Spinnaker fleet will race a course about 10-18 nm in length. Spinnaker classes will be given the longest course, up to 25 nm. Each of the course lengths will vary depending on the boats racing, and the weather conditions. I am going back old-school with this course layout - each of the mark used in the bay will be identified with a letter. The order of mark roundings will be determined at the warning signal. This method gives race committee many options on course length and directions, it adds a bit of navigation, and it makes things interesting.

Scott, will the PHRF Spin-Distance races be held in the upper bay (HYC area) or in main Galveston Bay (Rum Race area)?

Rum Race area. The start will be in the arm-pit of Bayport Channel and Houston Ship Channel. This will give me the opportunity for some long legs and dozens of course variations.

I have been through that countless times but I have never heard it called an arm-pit.  I like it.  8)

"The 100 foot long, 3 story tall, air conditioned "Observer" is once again the Spectator Boat for the Leukemia Cup Regatta on Saturday.  Boarding time is 10:00 am.  $30 includes boat ride and lunch (donated by Neptune Subs) with soft drinks.  All is donated so all of money goes to LLS for research and patient services.  You may bring a cooler with adult beverages, if you wish.  Please call HYC office to make reservations so we order enough food."

If you are not able to sail this weekend and want to watch the races from a spectacular observation platform, please make arrangements and come down...
cheers...
