This year's Spring Regatta, to be held the weekend of St Patrick's Day, will be one day of long distance bay racing.  Based upon input from our membership and the popularity of the Rum/Icicle Series, we've come up with some possible courses that are reminiscent of the golden days of GBCA racing - long distance!  To be followed by apr?s race festivities at the GBCA lounge, deck and pool area replete with Irish beer and Irish stew, plus the customary rum and mixers.

It depends upon how much breeze there is.  Could be an 8nm Icicle; could be a 13nm Rum Run; I'm hoping for enough breeze to send participants on a new course that could be 25+nm.

It depends upon who and how many sign-up.  Could be pursuit start; could be performance start; could be combination of both for different classes.

Looking forward to it. Hope it is on the longer side.

Consider down loading the RaceQs app to track the race and provide performance data. The J 92 and Singer have been running this. After the race, the track is uploaded automatically from your phone to when it hits a wifi connection. You can then view your race tracks as well as tracks from the other boats. Several viewing options are offered.

"The free raceQs sailing system is made up of three state-of-the-art integrated components. The phone app gives you the sailing data you need to improve your performance while logging your GPS track. The app renders a shareable 3D animated replay of your journey."

Second that.  We need all the practice we can get.  :)

A little less than two weeks out and the competition is shaping up. The weather looks to be a little warmer and hopefully will be a nice day to be on the water. TMCA has a good class forming. The Super Chicken is working on updating the Orange Class, so make sure your times from the last Icicle Race have been sent to El Supremo' Pollo. Get signed up and lets drink a little green beer around the Blarney Stone!

The droppings have been cast. El Pollo has spoken. Haven't had time to post them but I'll make sure to get them out to the boats that actually need them first. Bwaaack!

I kissed the Blarney Stone once.  YUK!.  You even have to do it upside down.
