Title: New Galveston Bay obstacle
Post by: Eric713 on November 09, 2014, 07:50:53 AM
There is what appears to be an 8 in diameter piling 8 inches above the surface in the water.  Its at an 80 degree angle pointing due west with about 2 feet of it exposed .  I tried moving it with a boat hook but to no avail.  The position is 29.34.514 north, 94.58.082 west.  Its just south of the line from Clr Crk mkr 2 to the Low Range Mk.  I tries calling the Coast Guard with no success. If anybody has another option, please let me know. Another good reason not to sail at night.

Looks like this is right in the way of the Icicle and Rum races (see map).  I also suspect it will be below the mean tide most of the year.  So what shall we call it? Balun Point?  Ed's Place? A Little bit of Sun?  I vote for Balun Point ;D

Typical Ericson owner, always wanting to capture and rename, just like their Viking brethren.  Hi Ed!
