Women's Regatta NOR is up at http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html (http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html)
WooHoo! Alright gals, plenty of time to buy, rent, borrow, or steal a boat between now and Sept. 11th. We need to enter early so we can make sure the guys have enough treats for us at the after-race party. Let's give the race committee a full day's work with multiple OD and non-spin races. Put up or shut up!
;D
Are there any ladies planning to race J/24s or J/22s at this regatta? J/24 Siren will be signing up.
Sea Trial is in. That weird dueling seahorse trophy is mine.
I'm unclear: Is this a regatta wherein a woman skippers the boat and the crew may be mixed-gender or is it for all-woman crew only? In other words, if I want to crew for a woman in this regatta do I need to shave my beard, stuff a bra, & tuck? ;)
Frank,
From the NOR:
For each race in the Regatta, each boat competing shall be helmed by a female from the warning signal for her class until she has finished.
So basically, yes guys can crew just not drive....

Thanks, Leigh Ann!
Of course there are certain women that have required all of their crew to wear grass skirts and coconuts....or prom dresses....or bikinies.
Now that's disgusting!

You've obviously never been to a Jimmy Buffett concert! :D
I was picturing BEE in a grass skirt with coconuts!
Couldn't find Bee but here is the next best thing.... ;D

Bee? Bee don't need no stinking coconuts!
Grass skirt and bra is all Bee needs.
Nice photo Sailaway. Does IT work at Hooters?
??? Of course they work at Hooters :o

Ok, so enough about the guys in grass skirts and bras....
Ladies, who besides me and Jody are racing? More classes = more cool trophies.
I may try for it... not sure yet, but trying to learn how to drive the old Soling well enough by next week that David can coach me through the race... we'll see. If I do, well, it will be an adventure.

All I can say is OMG!
Um...Jody...I think I want that trophy. ;D Siren is in. Let's do this!
BRING IT!!!! I found a T-shirt design the other day that just said "SIREN BITCHES" -- it made me smile. Can't wait to see you on the race course!!!!!
I heard mumblings about two more J24 planning to come out.... Chickety Split and Dirty Girl. Sign up!
@ Jody...hope it was Siren that made you laugh! Really can't wait! C'mon ladies, let's go have some fun!
Three trophies! Cool, that makes my life easy gals. We can do paper, rock, scissors and see who gets the coolest wine glass!
Well, the cr@ppy weather has prevented us from getting out on the Soling for me to practice driving! Still gonna try if the weather starts cooperating, but if not... anyone need crew??
Karen, You give up so easy?
Not giving up, just covering my bases. If I can't get enough practice time in on the helm before Saturday, I still want to be able to get out there! :)
Highway 146 Traffic Alert
for Saturday, Sept. 11
Sept. 10, 2010
Drivers on State Highway 146 should expect traffic delays early Saturday morning, Sept. 11. Highway construction along SH-146 continues to move ahead quickly. As the project develops traffic will be rerouted to allow the next phase of construction to begin. Such a change will take place beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday morning. For a short time, the highway will be closed to allow traffic barriers to be moved. Once open, traffic will have been taken off the existing highway lanes and placed on new sections of road. In that process two new intersections will flank the old intersection of SH-146 and Shoreacres/Choate. With the traffic out of the way construction can begin on an overpass that will eventually eliminate the intersection for north and southbound through traffic.
My Queen. She's cute, does traffic advisories, and drives a sailboat!!
May you all sail fast, have fun and be safe..
She's also a great tactician.
You sure you don't mean snacktician?
That too.
We're in Shoreacres, so that construction is making life interesting here!
Chris - you watch your DWM or you're off the boat!!!
Skippers (skipperette?) meeting at 10:30 this morning. GBCA Clubhouse
Also, stop by the party tonight, we're going to have a super time

Awesome day on the water! Thank you Brian and race committee - I had soooo much fun.
My body hurts, I'm covered with bruises, I have a bump on my head from an "up close and personal" moment with the boom... damn that was fun!!!
Some more pictures of 1st and 2nd races.

Awesome time!! Thanks GBCA!!! :-*
Thanks to Vicki and Team Mojo for saving the day (again), when our original markset boat developed engine problems. It has been a rough year on the RC boats!
I forgot to mention a big thanks to Beverly and Mary for helping me out with the fixin's: the potato and egg salads. Yum-o!
Chris Alk: nice sparkle top, there really is no way to "unsee" that, is there?
One of my "battle scars" from the day (when boom meets nose!)
Careful with the top comments. I'll make the picture my avatar and you'll have to look at it every time I post.
Finally got them all loaded!

What a great weekend on the water for the women of GBCA! All because we have a great support from RC, and folks that choose not to race so the rest of us can come to the club where the food and drink just magically appear. Kinda like it did on our boat, thanks to my two man-servants Doug and Kevin.
Thanks Everyone!
