Title: Rum Race #7 2010: August 28th
Post by: ChrisK on August 16, 2010, 08:54:29 AM
Rum Race #7 is (8/28), can you believe only one more after this one?

A reminder to fly your class flags:
GBCA Club Handicap (Orange Flag)
PHRF Spin (White flag)
PHRF Non-spin (dark flag) and the
Shorthanded (SOS) class (White  over dark flag)

Bring the crew over for awards at the GBCA Clubhouse after the racing.
Winners share in their liquid winnings!

If you miss Rum Race #7 there is only one more pursuit style race left
RR #8 on September 4...

As always, volunteer help with setup and cleanup is appreciated!

What a great night to be on the water, and and great racing!. Thanks again to the Lacy Bros for the fantastic pictures, you may have noticed they had the photos of tonights racing action already on the flat screen when we arrived at the the party tonight!  How friggin' cool is that?
Look for them online (http://www.flickr.com/photos/lacyphotos/sets) in the next couple of days.

It was quite dark at the finish as the sun sets earlier, we had light air, and several new boats out there.  One recomendation I overheard was keeping a flashlight handy to shine on your class flag and/or your sail number as you finish...This is not required, but might help for next week if we get the same conditions.

Preliminary results as follows,
Mods added in blue

Non-spin
1. Tenacious
2. Far Fig Newton
3. 7 Star
4. Kenai (yes, nonspin)
5. Sabani

Spin:
1. Musica
2. French Connection
3. Sea Trial
4. Tres Hombres
5. Bondi Tram

Shorthanded
1. Silver Bullet
2. Vela
3. Rolanna Sue
4. Mental Floss
5. Selah

Club handicap
(Finish times were few and far between, please post here)

Those are some really nice shots Gary!

There is something about this one that I really like.  It just captures the moment beautifully.
