I am seeing a push for everyone to go to the ORC class as PHRF spinnaker seems to be disappearing from the options for certain regattas. The options for the cruisers are to go to the Club Handicap Spinnaker class or ORC IF you have a certificate. Club handicap, I thought, initially was to encourage newer boats to enter into racing then you would graduate as some would say into the PHRF classes. Then there was the racer/cruiser green flag class which lasted briefly and also disappeared. Now PHRF spinnaker is not an option for what is to be the Premier regatta for GBCA. I know of at least 3 boats that will not be entering because of this. Racing a cruiser vs a J-Boat has never been a popular option and we are not interested in the club handicap class. PHRF donates to GBCA and supports all racing in the bay but now I can't race under that handicap. So I am going to throw this out there for discussion. I recently raced with LYC and we had a decent sized class even with an ORC class. This change is not something I am personally fond of.

Anyone else have thoughts on this shift?

Per the Fall Series NOR the Sailing Instructions were not posted in the location stated. You instead put everything under the Sailing Angels Regatta.

Will the boats in the Sailing Angles be completely separate from the Fall Series and vice versa or are the courses going to be the same? I think we would all like to know who is racing in which race while we are out there.

I do type in my email first which auto populates the form. But there were multiple entries and the math didn't add up. Not to mention the date was from last year on the rating that I thought was closest to what I should have been. Hence my confusion. I looked at the most current date but as mentioned by others the See changes reflected that the 2018 date was actually the most correct. I do believe it should have been 145 after all the decoding.

I'm confused. Bad Girl is listed at least 3 times in the cruising club rating and yet the ratings are different. I see a 152 and a 144 but have not received any emails stating what I am supposed to be rated at for this next Rum Race #4. I am assuming I am to go with the latest date of 07/19/19. When I tried to compare to other boats in my class their ratings are all the same in multiple locations. Can someone help explain to me what I am supposed to go by? Thanks in advance.

Bad Girl would be interested. I have been told I need to remove my stove and all this extra weight to be competitive. But I also enjoy the boat when I am not racing so I'm not going to do that. This would be fun to try out and be great for my crew who would like to start doing some spin races. I think that the boats that are interested would be great competition. I'm good with using the PHRF ratings and agreeing to a class description.

As of right now Bad Girl will be out. Wanted to practice spin but not if it's crazy like the forecast is showing. I can't make Friday even though sailing sounds like a much better plan.

Don't forget to sign up for this year Commodores Ball on Saturday, February 11th at Di'Amici Upscale Events. Sign up early by January 26th and avoid the $10 late fee.
