We're finalizing the prizes that will be on the Silent Auction for the Leukemia Cup Kickoff.  The deadline to submit a prize is Friday, May 7th.  If anyone is interested in donating a cruise (Thanks Doug Elmore for doing this again!!) or making individual or couple spots available for racing in any of the GBCA regattas or the Leukemia Cup Regatta, please let me know PRONTO!  Contact me directly at s_davis@seismicventures.com or 713-256-8737.  I need to know by Friday 5/7 (tomorrow) if it is to be included in the silent auction for next week! The Leukemia Cup Kickoff will be a perfect opportunity to promote Test Drive Day.  Timing couldn't be better (May 13th -- two weeks prior to TDD).  Can someone provide flyers and some kind of signage...maybe even manpower to staff a small table?

 The 8th Annual Leukemia Cup Kickoff will take place on Thursday, May 13th from 5pm to 9pm at Rocbar, located at 530 Texas Avenue in Bayou Place in downtown Houston?s Theatre District.  The $25 cover along with proceeds from the silent auction will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  A cash bar will be available along with light bites from several local restaurants. Over 400 patrons are expected to attend this festive fundraiser that is a lead-up to the Leukemia Cup Regatta held each year at the Houston Yacht Club.  For more information, please visit http://www.energy2cure.org/2010_leuk.html

Leukemia Cup Kickoff Volunteer Meeting:  Please mark your calendar and plan to attend a meeting for the Leukemia Cup Kickoff volunteer committee on TUESDAY, MARCH 2nd from 6PM to 7PM at Plonk Beer & Wine Bistro located at 1214 W. 43rd (corner of Ella and W. 43rd - about one mile north of the 610 Loop).  Below is a link to Plonk?s web site where you can find a map of their location.  We will endeavor to start the meeting promptly at 6 and finish at 7pm.  Please come early or plan to stay late for socializing, drinks and/or dining.  www.plonkbistro.com

A Happy Hour/informative meeting will be held Tuesday, February 2nd from 6 to 8pm at The Red Lion located at 2316 South Shepherd Drive (between Westheimer and San Felipe).  Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served, compliments of The Red Lion.  Representatives from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) will present information on fundraising and volunteer opportunities in conjunction with the Leukemia Cup Kickoff (in-town party) and the Leukemia Cup Regatta (at HYC) which will take place in May and June, respectively.  For more information, feel free to call or email Elizabeth Weiss with LLS at 713-680-8088 or elizabeth.weiss@lls.org.
