I saw that tirade. Not classy.

The arguments for and against high score and low score have already been made. Just as my opinion, I would like, at least for my class to have the low point scoring system with the high score plus + 1 if you do not race. I will not complain whatever you decide. I did promise Gary that I would make my opinion known.

Throw outs baffle me. I have played stick and ball sports, road raced motorcycles, and raced cars. I had never heard of a throw out until I started sailing. I am curious why it ever got started in sailing.

I think the coverage has been excellent. Their computers show wind lines (kind of), speeds, wind direction , among other things.

They are very nice photos and we all appreciate those who allow us to see all the boats in action.

I am sorry to hear this. I knew Mike away from sailing. He was a very positive, pleasant man.

Agree this was an entertaining non-event!! Doll Fin has it on the money.

I agree with Shelton. I have seen a many race committees at work over the last few years and most were very good. I do not know how you folks do it. I have to say that that particular RC was the best of the best on that weekend. Kudos.

I have been following several of the builds for a while. After crewing for three years on a J24, I really like one design racing and have been waiting to see what happens with the Viper or even the WETA. The idea of building this boat really appeals to me, but I am not sure where one would race it. I will consider it if you get something going.

Also, thanks to everyone who has mentioned tides, as that is something I have never paid a lot of attention to other than trying to get through our channel into the bay or Clear Lake.

Is it most important to have the favorable tides where the bay narrows nearing Galveston?

Would it be safer to cross over into East Galv. Bay (Trinity Bay?) and stay away from the ship channel until near Bolivar? Would this be too far?
My wife is questioning her desire to sail for 5-6 hours. She is all for it at 4 hours. I fear that too long on the water, especially on a plush comfortable J24 will ruin her enthusiasm for future sailing.

Again, thanks for all the advice.

Thanks G4B,
I did guess that the j24 was on that trailer. I had not thought about current until it was mentioned in an earlier post. I am starting to question whether this is the trip to introduce my wife (and myself) to cruising. It is a long time on the water at 4 or 5 knots.

Thank you for the info. Now I just need to find the perfect weather.
