Anybody know a bit more behind the Coast Guard's rescue of the Petite Louis III during this year's Harvest Moon Regatta?

I had a blast last year and would love to do it again! However, I understand there's a shortage of dockage, particularly for boats that draw more than 6'. That's a real barrier to participation for a multi-day event like this. What can we do about that?

To the eight boats that have already signed up I just want to say thanks! To the rest of the boats that ARE going to signup I would say ?do it?!  For all of you that have already checked out my website, http://www.threefatbrothers.com, you can tell that I am not really selling anything but more I just love to watch sailboat racing and that is why I sponsor this event.  That is why I take as many picture as I do, I love the sport.  So if you have not yet made a commitment to compete at GBCA Texas Race Week 2011 please consider coming out to play offshore off Galveston and back at the dock with a few tunes on Friday and plenty of rum and good eats each evening.  There is a great group of volunteers that are working right now to make this a premier event for GBCA so get?er done and sign up.

See you on the water,

John  ;D

Galveston Bay Area Racing / GYC full!

Rita Higgings tells me that GYC has no more slips for TRW. The NOR describes no provision for this contingency. Is there someway we can coordinate rafting or additional slips within Galveston Harbor?

Crew Finder / 2011 HYC Hangover Regatta
December 23, 2010, 10:58:56 AM
Anybody looking for hangover regatta crew? I normally operate the foredeck on a dip-pole setup aboard Petite Helene (John Dickey) or Alert (Drew Peerless). I don't have asym spinn experience but would love to learn. I can crew other positions, too. PM me.

Cheers,

We're about two weeks out from the hangover regatta now. Are there to be any instructions or do we just show up whenever we can pick ourselves off the deck and start sailing about haphazardly?

COME ON FOLKS!  CRANK UP THE REGISTRATIONS!  Only 72 hours to go and we have a measly 32 boats registered. Alamitos Bay is running a Turkey Day same day and they already 200+ boats!  WTF Texas, let's kick some West Coast Ass and get a few more showing up for a wonderful regatta this coming weekend.

>:(DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS! >:(

Agreed! We could especially use some more boats in the phrf spin distance fleet?there's only three of us!

I always spell that revognaH.  That cap at the end says it all.

Agreed. It's a good cue to the reader to read backwards. That's just good human factors.

I had just move from OK and at 62 degrees on Jan 1 I thought I was in heaven --- then the summer came and I knew I was really in HELL.

It's only hell if you're not sailing, Bee. Just think about all the poor bastards up north who can't sail at this time of year because the WATER'S TURNED FROM LIQUID TO SOLID. That's what I call hell frozen over. (:

Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: 2011 GBCA Schedule

I've had enough fun with GBCA to compel me to join and I definitely want to volunteer. How does that work? Do you simply email requests for volunteers to the members as each event comes up?

Pensacola's a great idea. Key West might be even better!

From the point of view of a symmetrical spinnaker boat, what's supposed to be the difference between the "PHRF Sym" and "PHRF Spinnaker Distance" fleets, just longer courses?

Warning ? KATANA( Hunter 34) hit a sixteen foot, mostly submerged log?

Scary! I hope no one was hurt!

Thanks for compiling the results, Leigh Ann. However, I'm having trouble with this ".mht" file. Would you please post the Rum Race series results within a message or attached as plain text or PDF?

It was really a gorgeous evening! Thanks, GBCA, for organizing the Rum Races!
