Good New! The ballots to elect the 2015 Board of Governors and the Annual Awards ballots are in the mail. Please take the time to send back your ballot and make your voice heard. On behalf of your Nominating Committee, I believe we have a strong group of people that have volunteered to help make this an even stronger club.
The Annual Awards for "Yachtsman of the Year", "Sportsman of the Year" and "Crewman of the Year" will be determined on the enclosed ballots. We have had quite a few members that have traveled far and wide and members that have stayed locally that gave our Club great recognition. Let us honor those that have made great accomplishments for themselves and our Club. The Annual Awards will be presented at the Commodore's Ball next year!
The new Board of Governors will be presented at the Annual Meeting for all Senior Members on October 24th 2014 at Cabos. If the weather is nice, we will be on the upper deck with hors d'oeuvres and a nice view of Clear Lake! The Annual Meeting is a good time for all Senior Member to take part in discussions on the future of GBCA. Please make plans to attend!

Bon jour! Don't forget to elect your future GBCA Board of Governors and the yearly best sailors. I must say the return stamps did not go out, but please add a stamp and return the ballots. Good luck to all the Havest Moon sailors.
Au voir!

GBCA's Annual Meeting of 2014 was held this past Friday, October 24th. Some items discussed were Membership, regatta participation, and Texas Race Week. Our club always needs new members as well as existing members keeping their membership current. Regatta participation might be raised by better advertising and making participates aware of the possible courses that will be offered. It was also noted that the participants can inform the R/C of what courses they would like to race. Texas Race Week (TRW) has had limited participation in the racing side of the event due to cost, heat, etc. It was discussed that for 2015, TRW would be two separate weekends of racing offshore (one overnight race per weekend). The races would be spread out over the year with a party after the last race. If one of the TRW events were to be held in the heat of the summer, the start time would be after the sea breeze has kicked in. Stay tuned!
With great pleasure the 2015 GBCA Board of Governors is as follows:
Commodore Christopher Dees
Vice Commodore Charles Broaddus
Rear Commodore Marilyn Horton
Fleet Captain Bob Hunkins
Treasurer Steve Zirilli
Secretary Terri Gale
Governor Gary Trinklien
Governor Dave Christensen
Governor Darin Keever
returning Governors
Governor Nicole Laster
Governor Kevin Bednar
Governor Drew Peerless
Thanks to Doug Elmore, A.J. Taylor, and Emmett Dickheiser for volunteering to be on the ballot. All six candidates were excellent choices, but only three can be elected. Thanks for your continued support! Also a big thanks to Chris Alk, who for the last five years has been the Treasurer. He leaves the books in excellent shape and I am sure he will help Steve Zirilli to the best of his ability. And last but not least, Thanks Bob Hunkins for volunteering to be the Fleet Captain. Bob is well known in our racing community, so let's give him our support and volunteer to help out on Race Committee.
Let's make 2015 a great year for sailing and GBCA the "Place to Race"! I will leave the club in good hands with our new 2015 Commodore Chris Dees!
