Any thoughts on adding a classifieds section to the board?

My opinion:
A "for sale/buy" category would distract from the purpose of the FoRum.
It would attract those not really interested in the local racing scene but those more inclined to make a quick sale.
(Especially if it's a free ad)
Mix in boat brokers, commercial interests, scam artists, spam, price reductions, stale posts....
We don't want to burn-out our webmaster just yet

There are other places on the web, free, where you can post, like sailingtexas.com...

Maybe I'm totally wrong on this (I can be convinced otherwise) but that's my 2 cents.

On the other hand, you could restrict it to only GBCA members. This can easily be done with the use of a different usergroup on the forum for only GBCA members. Settings the permissions for that usergroup so only they could post in the classifieds area should prevent the spam.

the classified could be easily monitored... I have several things laying around, older parts, like Kevin I'm sure... I'll bet that he won't use company name either if selling something... it's the whole, other person's treasure thing... I would rather have GBCA members have first dibs anyways...
