 ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
There is a strange vessel in clear lake close to LYC, seems about 80'.  It is gray, with a larger bow and sits rather low amidships.

Does anyone have any idea of what type of boat this is or what it is doing?  It has been there for a couple of days now and has a dingy rafted up next to it.

It is an old Navy landing ship/barge, used to drive up on a beach and offload tanks, trucks, dozers. The front is a ramp and will lower down when they hit the beach. Whoever owns it uses it as a work boat. I think they do piling and bulkhead work.  I saw it down in the Galveston Yacht Harbor last year working on their bulkheads.

It was anchored by the Turtle Club last week during the Weds. Night finals and we saw it over the weekend during the Compass regatta - they mist like watching sailboat races. :)
