Galveston Bay Area Racing / Re: Boat Bottom Fungus

Bob's diver who cleans Stinger's bottom told me the same thing some time ago.  I have also seen a lot of the yellow algae in my pool.  Never have had trouble with that before.  Harvey? Warmer water?

I have Bob's crew clean Stinger's bottom as often as possible.  Certainly before every race, including the Icicle and Rum races.  If you are racing and not doing that, I can vouch for the fact that your boat gets slower as time progresses.

Thanks.  Very nice shots.

I agree completely.  An alternative is to drink canned beer :D, but then that will probably find its way to the bottom as well.

Yes... with the start time being 3 hours later.

At least is should be cool.

I like the change in course, and see it as an interesting challenge.   I, just think the marks should be designated under GBCA's system vs a different clubs.

I haven't been here all that long, but somewhere, sometime, someplace, it was labled "K" Mark.  Refered to it as K-Mart, or the giraffe.

"T" is in my chart plotter as K-mark.

Damn Dan.  Hate to see you go but know you will enjoy being home.  Nothing like NOLA food but you may get fat. :)

That's terrible.  Really, really sad.

My experience with Joe is that he is a first class A-Hole.

This appears to be a wonderful way to bring in some big boat sailors.  Sorry about sailing through you guys during the Peanut Regatta, but it was really nice to see all the boats out there.

Keep it up.

Thanks for the rule update.  I have never paid much attention to what the rules actually say about this, but I do agree poling out an A-Kite is illegal; as it should be.  I have not observed this on the Bay so am a bit surprised that some are actually doing it. I am sure it has a speed advantage. From my point of view its exactly equivalent to wing and wing with a giant headsail.

I have never been able to do it for very long but it is possible to run wing-and-wing with an A-Kite on most sprit boats.  Its all up to the driver and the trimmer.  The scary part is that this works best when sailing by the lee but it will work. I watched Lutz do  this on a J122 from the old J to the Kemah 1-2 finish. Fortunately he did not catch me but it was a marvel to watch. I was really impressed.

I entered Stinger (J105) in the Performance Cup and now I find that I can count on only 3 crew.  If any of you are brave enough to try your hand at a 105, please let me know:

I certainly would appreciate it.
