Quote from David this morning while checking the weather for today: "Common sense says we should stay home. In lieu of common sense, we have foul weather gear".

all that aside--it really comes down to: porta potty vs. real marine head.  :o

Port-a-potty??  Shoot, between Revolution and the Soling, I'm lucky to get a bucket! (ah the joys of being a female sailor!)   ::) :) Can't wait 'til David and I have our own cruiser/racer again!

any other 40 year old boats out there?

Cheers,

Conditions permitting, we might enter the Soling. :)

I lived in New Orleans for 7 years, so if anyone's going and needs some recommendations, I'm happy to help! (I will say that Port of Call on Esplanade is a must if you want the BEST burgers and rum drinks around! :)

BUMP

Just a reminder, all are welcome to stop by our house this Sunday, even if you don't RSVP. We're in Shoreacres, just a few blocks from HYC. I don't post addresses on a public forum, but just give me a call or email seaoftranquility@ymail.com if you need it!

Would it be possible to ride the Lakewood bus down there on the 24th?  This is the bus picking up everyone heading home after the race.

Linda, if you/re looking for a "land yacht" to ride down there with, you could try coming to the skipper's meeting this Friday and asking around - a lot of people have non-sailing family or friends driving down for the party, bringing post-race supplies etc. so you might find a ride.

It was anchored by the Turtle Club last week during the Weds. Night finals and we saw it over the weekend during the Compass regatta - they mist like watching sailboat races. :)

They can't even get the weather/wind predictions right on the same day, how can we expect them to know what it will be like in 2 weeks? :P

We are DIEING for all of our sailing pals to join us for a creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky but altogether informal "Addams Family Halloween open house. Costume is optional but a macabre sense of fun is essential! Fun will start around 4PM. If you can make it, PM or email me for our address! Hope to see you!!

As soon as David and I can buy another boat, we'll be entering as much as we can! :)  Unfortunately, we're just not ambitions enough to use the soling for anything more than Weds. nights or occasional one-day regattas (plus she's 40 years old and pretty fragile so we hesitate taking her out into the bay too often... and we won't mention what a gal has to do when nature calls!).

As the daughter of a Marine (RIP Dad - I love you!!) and the girlfriend of a former Navy SEAL, my thoughts are always with those who serve and their loved ones, especially those who gave their all to keep us safe.

I'm guessing it's just the usual case of everyone waiting until the last minute.

I have been told that there were some in the past who took the "NOOD" thing literally.
