Galveston Bay Area Racing / Frostbite Regatta Wrapup
February 27, 2011, 04:56:05 PM
Okay  - yes I did turn a year older today and I am already forgetting stuff!!!

First - I did not thank my Race Committee at the awards, so here it is: Thank You John Lacy, Scott Lacy, Kevin Box, Kelly Dees, Lori Lacy, Gary Lacy, Tom Dilas on the Signal Boat and the mark set boat - Dwight Bengston and Brian Hawboldt. I congratulate you all for a great weekend.

Second - I did not have the Sunday daily prizes calculated for the awards ceremony, so they are below and if you see your boat name, I owe you a glass.

J105
1. Radiance
2. Infinity

PHRF Spin
1. Tres Hombres
2. Millennium Express

PHRF Non-Spin
1. Be Easy
2. Further
3. Sabani

GBCA Club Handicap
1. Chiron
2. Wandering Star

And the last thing... I did not enter the course distance correctly for the 4th race for the PHRF Non-Spin. The course distance was 6.08, not 5.33. This did not change the final results. Thank you Keith Gray for pointing out this error.

I believe that is all I have. Thank you everyone who particpated and I will see you at the Conundrum, March 19th and the Spring Regatta, March 26th. Why don't you go ahead and sign up!

Frostbite results are posted at

Follow the link and the NOR is posted, while you are there you might as well register.

http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html

Please note  - we will be scoring for each day of the Regatta and giving trophies - Saturday and Sunday and then overall Frostbite trophies which include both days together. That way if you can't race on Saturday (i.e. HLR Cook-off), but can race on Sunday - you can still be scored for Sunday. It will be advisable if you are attending the cook-off to bring the race committee BBQ on Sunday!

Let me know if you have any questions! Leigh Ann Hawboldt - Fleet Captain, lahsailing@gmail.com

Go to: http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html and you will find the 2011 Icicle Series Race Instructions under the Notice of Race link.

Start planning now and put on your "Dear Santa I have been good list" cold weather gear for sailing!!!

Please note the following...

1. You do not have to register for the Icicle Series and there is no entry fee (but if you haven't done so yet, this would be a great time to join GBCA... http://www.gbca.org/memberappfm.html )

2. There has been a change to the race instructions from the previous years. Under section VIII. Special Instructions the following paragraph has been deleted -

In the event the Race Chairman determines that the weather is too severe to race, the Race Chairman may cancel the race by announcing on the VHF, Channel 68 that the race is officially canceled. This announcement will be made at approximately 11:15 am.

the following paragraph has been added -

Attention is called to RRS 4: Decision to Race, "The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone."

Everyone have a great holiday season and I will see you in January!
