Should be plenty of shirts and tumblers and event passes.  All for sale at the skippers meeting and after the rum race.

Tech t-shirts on sale tonight! And they look great!

Big thanks to our own Lauren Christensen for the t-shirt design and the poster design!

T-shirts are only $20 (short sleeve) and $25 (long sleeve).  Bring your cash, checks, and credit cards!

Seen myself on two of those videos, but I've yet to see Missy.  Very stealthy.

Lunch order form here.

Fill out one form for each day you want lunches.  Each lunch comes with sandwich, chips, pickle and cookie. Yum!

Submit the form at the Skippers meeting Friday.
If you pay at the skippers meeting with a credit card, don't fill out the CC information on the form; we will swipe your card at the meeting.
We will accept cash, checks, or credit cards.

We will deliver the lunches to the Yacht Basin dock E and Harbor House marina between 0830 and 0900 each morning.  Please be there.

Walter:

I think as a signer upper I get two tickets.  Yes?
Yes. Two event passes included with registration.

One week away and only 38 event tickets sold.  Looks like we might have to downsize this year.
And only 13 boat signed up. Hard to justify all the work and expense for a turnout like that. :-[ ???
But for those that are participating....
This one will be a blast!   :)  8) ;D (It may be the last one for awhile!)

Seriously, I have to finalize the catering tomorrow so if you are going to come to the party(s), please sign up!  Thanks!

Everything is coming together nicely. Just need you to sign up!

Where is Aeolus? Alert? Mojo? Chiron? Athena? Alessandra? Milli? Sea Nymph? Figaro? Firewater? Lil Bit o? Escape Hatch? Royal Crescent? Big D? Sea Gypsy? Wheeee Dog? Be Easy? Terrorist? Good News? Seute Deern? Rowdy? Phoenix? ONO? Picante? Petite Helene? Pingo? Infiniity? Cyrano? Hamburg? Cayuse? The Mule? Cache? La Dame? Joan?

I will have lunch order forms posted soon.  Fill out one for each day you want a lunch on the water (Thursday/Friday/Saturday).  I'll deliver the lunches in the morning to the yacht basin or Harbor House.

Tech t-shirts will be available at the Skippers Meeting, and at the Rum Race party (if there's any left!).  Both short sleeve and long sleeve.

This is so much easier to plan if we know what to expect, so if you are going to do the race, go ahead and sign up. You won't be disappointed.

Also if you plan to come to the parties, please sign up for an event pass now so we can get a good head count for the caterers, etc.

Thanks!  And looking forward to next week!

Have arrangements been made for us to order sandwiches for pickup at the marina as we have in years past?
Yes. This year we will be getting the lunches from Sunflower Bakery.  I'll have an order form for you to complete next week, and submit at the Skippers meeting.
Cost of each lunch is about $8 plus tax $9 including tax, and includes a sandwich, chips, pickle and 2 cookies I think.

Several have asked me what is going on with Texas Race Week this year, so here is some preliminary info before the NOR is posted.

The format will be similar to last year. That is, day racing out of Galveston, with starts and finishes in the vicinity of HSC 11.
As for the social events, here is what we have so far:
Thursday - burger bar at The Rum Shack on the Seawall (same as last year).
Friday - TBD.  Don't have anything lined up for Friday yet.  Maybe just a happy hour somewhere, and dinner on your own.  Unless a big sponsor comes along.  Still working on that.
Saturday - Awards party at the Texas Seaport Museum and Elissa.  Catered by Bennos.  Entertainment by Andy and the Dreamsicles featuring the Kick-Ass Brass. Beer and open rum bar.

Social tickets will be $35, which gets you into all events including food at the Rum Shack, and food and drinks at the Awards party.

I will be soliciting sponsors, but in the meantime tell your sailmaker, rigger, chandlery, etc. that they should REALLY support this FUN event.

Oh and we have our returning major sponsor again this year... Three Fat Brothers!
Thanks John, Scott, and the other brother from the same mother!

Reminder that the Emerald Coast Regatta SAFETY SEMINAR is this Saturday, March 22, starting at 8:00am at Lakewood Yacht Club.
This is a Category 2 race and per the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations for Category 2:

SECTION 6 - TRAINING
6.01 At least 30% but not fewer than two members of a crew, including the skipper shall have undertaken training within the five years before the start of the race in both 6.02 topics for theoretical sessions, and 6.03 topics which include practical, hands-on sessions.

Per the Emerald Coast Regatta NOR:

3.4 Each boat shall conform to the ISAF Special Regulations, with the following exceptions:
a) Paragraph 3.14.6(c) is modified to allow vinyl or other coating on the lifelines provided any stained coating is removed to establish that the lifelines have not corroded.
b) Paragraph 4.23.1 is modified to allow the use of Coast Guard approved flares in lieu of SOLAS flares so long as the type and quantity comply with the requirements of the paragraph and they are not older than the expiration date. The use of SOLAS flares is highly recommended.
c) Paragraph 6.01 is modified to require either compliance with that Rule or, alternatively, for 1/3 of the crew, but not less than two, to attend the 2014 Emerald Coast Regatta Safety & Navigation Seminar at Lakewood Yacht Club.

This means if you intend to do this race, at least a third of your crew probably needs to attend this seminar.
See you there!

but Greg had a good point - I'm usually right.   ;)
Nice.
Ditto on the early signup. And while you're thinking about signing up, go ahead and sign up for the Emerald Coast regatta.
Btw BA and I are finishing an awesome steak at McGuires right now. See you Saturday at the kickoff party. This is a great venue. We will fill you in on all the details of our recon mission to Pensacola.

That rigging was NOT supplied by Blackburn.  Rather it was compliments of Antares Fly-by-Night Rigging Supply.
